Minor Project Report Formatting

1. Font Type: Times New Roman

2. Font Size:
2.1 Main Heading or Chapter Heading
Font Size: 16
Capital & Bold
2.2 Sub Heading:
Font Size: 14
Case Sensitive & Bold
2.3 Description:
Font Size: 12
Line Spacing: 1.5
Paragraph Spacing: 2
3. Margin
3.1 Left Margin: 1.5
3.2 Right / Top / Bottom Margin: 1

4. List of Tables – The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear above the tables in
the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head.

5. List of Figures – The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear below the figures in
the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head.

6. List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclature – One and a half spacing should be adopted
or typing the matter under this head. Standard symbols, abbreviations etc. should be used.
5. REFERENCES:
List of References –The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the heading
“REFERENCES” in alphabetical order in single spacing left – justified. The reference material should be
listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of the author/authors should be immediately
followed by the year and other details.
5.1 Book
[Ref number] Author’s initials. Author’s Surname, Book Title, edition (if not first).
Place of publication: Publisher, Year.
Example:
[1] I.A. Glover and P.M. Grant, Digital Communications, 3rd ed. Harlow: Prentice Hall, 2009.
5.2 Journal article
[Ref number] Author’s initials. Author’s Surname, “Title of article,” Title of journal
abbreviated in Italics, vol. number, issue number, page numbers, Abbreviated Month Year.
Example:
[4] F. Yan, Y. Gu, Y. Wang, C. M. Wang, X. Y. Hu, H. X. Peng, et al., "Study on the interaction
mechanism between laser and rock during perforation," Optics and Laser Technology, vol. 54, pp.

5.3 Conference papers
[Ref number] Author’s initials. Author’s Surname, “Title of paper,” in Name of Conference,
Location, Year, pp. xxx.
Example:
[6] S. Adachi, T. Horio, T. Suzuki. "Intense vacuum-ultraviolet single-order harmonic pulse by a
deep-ultraviolet driving laser," in Conf. Lasers and Electro-Optics, San Jose, CA, 2012, pp.2118-

5.4 Website
[Ref number] Author’s initials. Authors Surname. (Year, Month. Day). Title of web page
[Online]. Available: URL
Example 1:

Example 2:

6. TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:

The impression on the typed copies should be black in color.


One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text. The general text shall be typed
in the Font style ‘Times New Roman’ and Font size 12. Headings shall be typed in the Font style
“Times New Roman’ and Font size 14. For major headings like topic name, use Font size 16.

Use the following color for cover page for spiral binding:

Sky Blue
