Apartment Management System

Introduction:
The Apartment Management System is a comprehensive web-based application developed as part of the
Database Management System course at ‘University of Chakwal’. The project aims to provide students with
practical experience in designing and implementing a database-driven application to manage apartment
complexes. Through this project, students will gain valuable insights into database design, web
development, and software engineering principles.

Objectives:
1. To design and develop a user-friendly interface for managing apartment-related operations.
2. To implement a secure and efficient database system to store and manage apartment-related data.
3. To provide role-based access control to different user types (admin, owner, tenant) with tailored
functionalities.
4. To automate routine tasks such as maintenance fee payments, complaint handling, and parking slot
allocation.
5. To ensure compliance with industry best practices and academic standards in software development.

Scope:
The scope of the project includes the following key components:

1. User authentication and login functionality.

2. CRUD operations for managing apartment-related data (tenants, owners, parking slots, complaints).
3. Integration with a MySQL database for data storage.
4. Implementation of role-based access control for administrators, owners, and tenants.
5. Development of a responsive and intuitive user interface using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
6. Deployment of the application on a suitable hosting platform.

Target Audience/Users:
The primary users of the Apartment Management System include:
1. Students enrolled in the Database Management System course, who will develop and test the
application.
2. Instructors and teaching assistants involved in assessing student projects.
3. Future users who may benefit from the application's functionalities, such as apartment
administrators, property owners, and tenants.

Features and Functionalities:

The system will offer the following features and functionalities:

1. User authentication and role-based access control.

2. Management of tenant and owner details.
3. Allotment of parking slots to tenants.
4. Handling of complaints raised by tenants.
5. Maintenance fee payment processing.
6. Reporting and analytics functionalities for administrators.
7. User-friendly interfaces tailored for different user roles.

Risks and Mitigation Strategies:

Potential risks include technical challenges, scope creep, and time constraints. Mitigation strategies include
regular communication among project team members, proactive risk management, and agile development
practices to adapt to changing requirements.

Conclusion:
The Apartment Management System project offers students an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge
gained in the classroom to real-world software development scenarios. By working collaboratively and
following best practices in software engineering, students will deliver a functional and well-designed
application that meets the project objectives and academic standards.
