INTRODUCTION:
Bata India Limited, a leading footwear manufacturer, recognizes the importance of corporate social
responsibility and is committed to making a positive impact in communities. With this goal in mind,
Bata is launching “Sole for Society” or SFS, a shoe donation initiative to distribute footwear to needy
individuals across three areas in India.
GOAL: To ensure access to footwear to the marginalized section of the society.
OBJECTIVE:
Distribution of more than 15000 pair of footwearto individuals in need across India in a
phased manner in the upcoming FY 24-25, thereby improving their quality of life and
promoting dignity.
Reduce waste by repurposing out of fashion footwear through donation rather than
destruction.
Foster partnerships with local NGOs to ensure effective distribution to target communities.
BENEFICIARY COVERAGE: 15000- 20000+ beneficiaries (across India)
STATEMENT OF WORK:
Collection:NGO will collect footwear from its Retail Distribution Centres, Stores and
Warehouses.
Current Location: Batanagar (Kolkata,West Bengal Approx.- 5000 beneficiaries), Bhiwandi
(Maharashtra Approx. 2500 beneficiaries), Hosur (Tamil Nadu approx. 3000 beneficiaries),
and Jamalpur (Haryana approx. 15000 beneficiaries)
Sorting: A team in collaboration with Bata Representatives will inspect and sort the collected
shoes. Wearable shoes will undergo basic checks to meet R2D (ready to donate)
standards.R2D would mean dusting the shoes and its boxes, checking, labelling and
numbering them
Distribution: Partnering NGOs will facilitate the distribution of shoes to needy individuals
and communities.
Reporting:Partnering NGOs will submit a detailed report on the number of beneficiaries
receiving the footwear. This may include any ID Proof issued by Govt of India.
PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
Bata seeks collaboration with NGOs experienced in community outreach and
distribution.
NGOs will play a crucial role in identifying beneficiaries, organizing distribution events,
and ensuring accountability.
Bata also seeks employee volunteering opportunities during distribution events to
ensure greater participation and collaboration with NGOs
Bata will provide the footwear, and necessary resources to achieve R2D standards.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION:
NGO should have a clear, identifiable and auditable database of beneficiaries receiving the footwear
Regular monitoring of project activities and progress.
Evaluation of distribution process, feedback from beneficiaries, and impact assessment.
Continuous improvement based on lessons learned and stakeholder input.
NOTE: At any point of time if it is found that the donated footwear has been sold/resold (within
three months (inclusive of the date of dispatch) from Bata Premises) by payment/exchange of any
value by the implementation partner for purposes beyond donation/social welfare, Bata will retain
rights to take appropriate legal action.
BUDGET AND RESOURCES:
Budget allocation for R2D status, transportation, and distribution logistics to be discussed with NGO
In-kind support from Bata in the form of footwear.
SUSTAINABILITY PLAN:
Exploration of long-term partnerships with NGOs for ongoing shoe donation initiatives.
Integration of sustainability practices in Bata's supply chain to minimize waste generation.
SOCIAL IMPACT:
Improved footwear access for individuals in need, enhancing health, safety, and well-being.
Strengthened community bonds and goodwill through collaborative efforts.
Contribution to environmental sustainability by repurposing footwear.
