To help you understand a little more about drawing and how to proceed to
evolve your projects, we develop some tutorials to make you record in your
mind how to do a specific topic that you saw in lives or in the e-book. With
that treasure in your hands, you’ll see how can you do something that was
“impossible” to yourself before becoming really easy now.

Always search for references! Choose some examples to help you


understand the construction of a bubble. First, you need to under-
stand that there’s two types of reflection: One that mainly hits around
the circumference and one that gently hits the center of the bubble;

Time to sketch! Remember that you don’t need to do a perfect circle


(unless you want a cartoon style), so reduce your “Smoothing” to a
lower percentage (20% - 30%) to do the bubbles more organic. To
start, let’s put a dark background to have a better look on the bubbles;

After this, paint a basic reflection on the bubbles (Use the “Lasso”
tool to help you, but never forget that reflection follows the silhouette
and doesn’t touch the sides). Then, change to a dark color and paint
with low pressure in the middle of the bubble until you’re satisfied;

Now you can apply the first effects on the artwork, using “Col-
or Dodge”, “Screen”, “Soft Light” or even all together! Choose
what combine with your creation (On this step, we’re using Color
Dodge, with the “Transfer” active and the pen pressure in 20%);

Take the eraser and erase gently the empty sides, making a con-
trast where only the reflection is present (You can see the ex-
ample to understand more about this detail). Then, change the
brush mode to “Screen” to create some light on the composition;

Change again the brush mode now to “Soft Light” to create more light
but in different colors (Notice that light can be any color of the rainbow
besides white), so apply with low oppacity to just give some sparkles
in the reflection (On this step, we used purple and green to enhance
the composition);

With the base done, refine your bubbles with “Smudge” tool
to improve silhouettes, lights and shadows as well. In paral-
lel, you’re still going to use other brush modes to fix the ef-
fects and create more reflections and sparkles inside the bubble;

Draw some lines to represent the reflection glow and erase gently to
transform into something more realistic. Proceed with the effects until
you’re satisfied and with all of this done, your bubbles are finished!

Extra lesson: If you have an object and want it to be reflected in the


bubble, check this out! First, Pick the “Lasso” tool and select which
area you want to paint (Remember that the object will be distorted
because of the curvature/movement from the bubble). Use the brush
mode on “Color Dodge” to paint your object with a lighter color, re-
specting the light influence;
