Reflection Paper: The Case of Xander Ford in relation to Physical and Sexual

Self

Based on my research about the case of Xander Ford, he underwent a huge

transformation. He was 20 years old at the time when he went to surgery. And I believe
that there is a big reason behind this decision of his that everyone seems not to
understand and keeps on bashing.
As a person, our physical and sexual selves have a big impact on our lives, both
emotionally and mentally. Being blasted or hated just because of our physical
appearance is absurd. Many people want to undergo surgery because they are
embarrassed about their appearance. Just like Xander Ford, who was called "GGSS or
Gwapong-Gwapo Sa Sarili, One Pants Man," etc., we all know that it can affect a
person's mental and emotional health. That's why he underwent such surgery to finally
fit in with society's standard of "gwapo". Every individual wants to reach this standard so
much that they want to change themselves just to reach it.
It is a very toxic attitude and trait for many people. Nowadays, you can be
famous once you are handsome or beautiful. You can get many jobs, and many people
will love and support you. But if you are not, they will offend and bash the way you look.
That leads him to undergo such surgery; he wants to be supported, appreciated, and
loved by many people, but instead they still bashed and mocked him.
That is how our society works. We can't force people to accept us. In my own
perception, we don't need their opinion about our looks. We just need to live our lives
the way we want. But if changing yourself can give you peace of mind, then go for it,
and always remember that there are still some people who appreciate and love you the
way you are.
