-Bicol Region, also known as Bicolandia, is located in the southeastern part of Luzon
[Link] covers six provinces, namely, Albay,Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur,
Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsosgon. Bicol Region V is home to several cultural groups
with their own traditions, languages, and cultures.

- Province Albay is the “ land of the world’s most perfect cone. “ It is located between
Camarines Sur on the north and Sorsogon on the south. Albay has the land area of 2,552.6
kilometers . It has 14 towns. Albay had a total populaion of 1,190,823 as of the August 2007
census. The province has thress climate types; eastern, weastern , and central . It
experiences no dry season, heavy rainfall, and 20 typhoons annually. The average rainfall is
233 milimeters, with the highest being 389 militeres in December.

Albay has 383.22 kilometers of national roads, mostly asphalt, with the Maharlika
Highway serving as the principal connection. Most cities and municipalities are connected by
national roads, excepts for Rapu-Rapu. To spur development, Toll Road 5 was declared the
extension of the South Luzon Expressway, a 420- kilometer, four- lane expressway. San
Miguel Corporation plans to invest in the project, reducing travel time from Lucena to
Matnog.

- Camarines sur at 526,682 hectares, it is the largest of the six provinces in the Bicol
Region. This represents 1.75 percent of the Philippines’ overall land and 29.87% of the
Bicol Region’s total area. With a level middle region known as the Bikol Plain,
Camarines Sur is a hilly and mountainous region. Between mountain rangers, it is
largely level in the middle, with a few minor coastal plains on the northeastern coast.
The rolling hills encirlce these regions. There are deep ravines and steep hills, with only
cogon covering them. Nipa’s wetland and mangroves grow along the province;s two
coats.

Masbate
The word "Masbate" originates from the Latin word "masbad," which translates
to "a lot of gold." The locals of Masbate welcomed the Spanish settlers when
they arrived in the 1790s. They gave gold and some utensils to the Spaniards
as a token of their friendship. In the mountains that are today home to the town
of Arroyo, the Spaniards discovered multiple gold mines. Additionally, there
were Spanish settlements in Masbate in the 1850s. In 1864, Masbate town
was originally established. Afterwards, in 1869, they established the Town of
Milagros, the Pueblo de Cervantéz (later called Placer), and the Town of
Malobago (Cataingan) in 1872.

Manila to camarines norte can be reached by bus from Manila terminals like Araneta
Center or Cubao, or by private vehicle, taking the north luzon express way ( NLEX)
and continuing onto the maharlika Highway ( Pan-Philippine Highway) until reaching the
destination. It will take 8-10 hours.
