Copying Data from MyLab Operations

Management and Pasting into POM for


Windows
For many problems, it may be possible to copy data from MyLab and paste the data for the problem into
POM for Windows, Excel OM or Excel itself. Data that can be copied are identified with a copy icon ( ).

Consider the forecasting example below:

To copy the data into POM for Windows do the following:

Step 1: Click on the copy icon. A window will appear


with the data inside the window.
Note the default value of TAB for the data
delimiter. You should not have to change this. If
the default value in MyLab is not TAB then you
can change it here in MyLab to TAB.
Alternatively, by going to HELP, USER
INFORMATION, TEXTBOOK you can change the
default value in POM to the default value in
MyLab which means you will not need to
change the default value in MyLab for every
problem. Again, if the default value in MyLab is
TAB then you do not need to consider changing
the delimiter in POM.

Step 2: Right-click on the data. The following options will appear:


Step 3: Select Copy. Or use Ctrl-C to copy instead.

The data are ready to be pasted into POM for Windows or Excel OM.

Step 4: Go to the POM for Windows module. Be sure you have set up the module for the problem first.

To insert the data from the problem into POM for Windows, select Paste From MyLab icon.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the data table and use the Paste from MyLab option that is in
the menu.

Step 5: Check the data to assure it pasted in correctly for the format needed by the module or the macro or
heuristics to solve the problem appropriately will not provide a correct solution.

a) Students may see a pop-up box with an error message:

It seems as though you have not created enough columns in your X (depends on which decision
science program you use) model for this MyLab problem. Be sure to check your data in X prior to
examining the solution

b) Manually correct the data as needed.
