Abstract

During the pandemic it has been hard to maintain social distancing within trains so we can
create an online token system for them which helps reserve seats in the train especially on the
local trains. Which will create a random QR security code which can be verified on the train
with a scanner attached to the door that opens only when the ticket scanned is verified. to
maintain optimal amount of people and provide service for the people with the pass. This can
help ensure that the trains are not overcrowded.

This project will be in the form of both a web page and a mobile application capable of
running on different operating systems. The person can look at what the timings of the trains
and book a ticket on the app following which a QR code will be generated. Once the person
reaches the station they can scan the QR in the train which is attached at the doors to make
sure that everyone has a ticket and the train is not overcrowded.

INTRODUCTION

Over the past two years all of us have been trying to adjust to the new normal, whether it be
everything going online, staying indoors most of the time or not being able to meet the people
you would have meet regularly before the pandemic. During this tiring pandemic it's been
hard and frightening for people to visit places that doesn't encourage or practice social
distancing like the public transportation especially the railways which have been the primary
mode of transportation for many middle-class workers and students.

Till now the Governments primary method to solve this issue has been to halt all local
passenger railways which has been a huge inconvenience to many people also resulting in
easier to practice social distancing during railway travel by creating a token reservation
system for railway

NEED FOR PROJECT

Our project aims to tackle the problem of overcrowding on a train by implementing a system
which generates a QR code when a ticket is booked and generate which the person can scan
in the train. This helps in reducing the overcrowding in trains and could help maintain social
distancing at this time.

OBJECTIVES

 All of this is to ensure that there is may be a proper system where the railways can be
a bit more organized

 Limit the number of people without a ticket entering a compartment

 Maintain precautious measures to ensure that people are safe during the current
scenarios

 To modernize and digitalize the current system.

5
PROPOSED WORK

 The process begins when the person books a ticket online or at the train station.

 A QR Code will be sent to the registered mobile number or if collected at the station
the QR Code will be printed on the ticket

 When the person enters the train, they should scan the code into the scanner at the
door of the train.

 To make sure that there is order there could be a person at each compartment to
maintain order and help people out.

The QR Token Generator system is designed to accommodate diverse user needs by providing both web-based and mobile application platforms, ensuring compatibility with various operating systems. It simplifies ticket booking and verification processes, aiming to enhance user experience across different demographics. Additional features to enhance accessibility might include multilingual support, options for visually impaired users like voice commands, offline operation capabilities for areas with poor internet connectivity, and a customer support interface to assist users encountering technical difficulties. Continuous user feedback integration would also help refine and adapt the system to evolving user needs.

Implementing the Railway QR Token Generator could significantly alter the role of railway staff by reducing the need for manual ticket checks, as ticket verification becomes automated. It might also introduce new roles focused on managing and maintaining the digital system, such as monitoring QR scanners and assisting passengers with technological issues. Additionally, while traditional responsibilities might decrease, there would still be a need for staff to oversee passenger boarding for order and assistance, suggesting a shift toward more supervisory and customer service roles.

Implementing the QR Token Generator system on a large scale might face several challenges such as technological disparities among different railway stations, the need for extensive upgrades to infrastructure, and potential resistance from users unfamiliar with digital platforms. There may also be concerns about data privacy and security, requiring robust cybersecurity measures. Additionally, ensuring consistent internet connectivity for system operations, managing transition periods, and training staff to manage new tasks effectively are significant challenges. Addressing these issues requires substantial investment, detailed planning, and strategic partnerships for a successful rollout.

Widespread adoption of a QR code-based ticketing system in public transportation can lead to several social impacts. It may improve convenience and accessibility, particularly for tech-savvy users, and contribute to an efficient public transportation system by reducing bottlenecks and unauthorized usage. However, it could also widen the digital divide, impacting those without access to smartphones or the internet, such as low-income individuals or the elderly. Additionally, such systems could improve public health by minimizing touchpoints and enhancing safety during pandemics. Adapting to this new technology might also influence commuting habits and shift societal attitudes toward embracing digital solutions in daily life.

Data management in the QR Token Generator system plays a crucial role in storing, processing, and analyzing passenger data to ensure efficient reservation and boarding processes. It involves managing QR code issuance, ticket validation logs, and passenger flow statistics. Efficient data management can identify trends, such as peak times, aiding in resource allocation and planning. Furthermore, data insights can drive future improvements, such as optimizing booking algorithms, enhancing user interfaces, and developing predictive models for demand forecasting. This will aid the continuous evolution and resilience of the system against future challenges.

The Railway QR Token Generator project is supported by a technical infrastructure that includes software and hardware components. The software environment is based on Windows 10 and involves programming languages like JAVA, HTML, CSS, and MySQL, developed within Visual Studio Code and Apache Netbeans. The backend utilizes Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, and Google Chrome is used as the web browser. On the hardware side, the setup includes a Lenovo Ideapad equipped with a 225 GB SSD and an AMD Ryzen 5 processor. This infrastructure is designed to be convenient and compatible with the project’s development needs.

The QR Token system contributes to modernizing the railway booking system by digitizing the ticketing process and integrating it with mobile technology. This system allows passengers to book tickets online, receive QR codes electronically or in printed form, and use them for secure entry into train compartments, thereby enhancing efficiency and accessibility. This transformation minimizes the reliance on paper tickets, streamlines passenger boarding, and helps prevent overcrowding by ensuring only valid ticket holders can enter. Furthermore, it modernizes by reducing fraud, increasing convenience, and ensuring a seamless experience for users.

The Railway QR Token Generator project ensures social distancing on trains by implementing a QR code system for booking and verifying train tickets. This allows for an organized way of reserving seats, ensuring that trains are not overcrowded and only passengers with a valid QR code are allowed entry. This system involves generating a QR code after a ticket booking, which is then scanned at train doors, thus regulating entry and maintaining an optimal number of passengers. This reduces overcrowding and facilitates social distancing.

The QR Token Generator system can serve as a model for other sectors by demonstrating how digital solutions enhance organization and security. Its methodology of utilizing QR codes for verification can be applied in areas like event management, healthcare, and education for secure access control. In event management, it could streamline attendee entry processes, while in healthcare, it could manage patient check-ins and appointment verifications digitally. In education, student attendance and exam entry can be securely managed. By highlighting integration with mobile platforms, data management, and user-centric design, the system showcases adaptability and real-time operational efficiency applicable across various industries.

The primary objectives of the Railway QR Token Generator system are to organize the railway ticketing and boarding process, limit unauthorized entry into train compartments, ensure passenger safety by maintaining social distancing, and modernize the existing railway systems to make them more digital and efficient.
