Sepak Takraw-is a team sport popular in
Southeast Asia, in which a woven ball is hit over a
high net using parts of the body other than the
hands or arms and without letting the ball touch
the [Link] takraw (“kick ball”) is a
uniquely Southeast Asian game (now played in
other regions) that is similar to volleyball but is
played with a woven rattan ball and without using
the hands. It's also like a foot volleyball game
where players touch as well as handle the ball
using only their feet, knee, chest and head. The
rules and regulations of the game are very much
similar to that of volleyball. The first properly
organized Sepak Takraw competition was held at
a Swim Club in Penang on May 16, 1945. Hamid
Mydin was also recognized as the creator and
founder of Sepak Takraw by the federation at
that meeting. The Sepak Raga rules that were
compiled on 15 April in Kuala Lumpur was also
ratified by the Malayan Sepak Raga Federation on
this day.

Any questions class?

Okay, let's proceed.

Whole class: None so far sir.

Frequently used in having skills are including

agility, adaptability, and strength, sepak takraw is
a game that consolidates various kicks, spikes,
and serves. These reach from essential ones that
most amateurs would have the option to get
effectively, to the more aerobatic sorts that
require extensive stretches of preparing and
practice to faultlessly execute.
Let's now proceed to the basic skills of Sepak
Takraw. Please take down notes class.

BASIC SKILLS OF SEPAK TAKRAW

1. Know the Basic Skills- In Sepak Takraw, you

can't contact the ball with your hands or arms.
That implies you need to utilize your feet, legs, Whole class: Okay sir, Noted.
and knees to control the ball. In spite of the fact
that it takes a touch of agility and physicality,
there are a few essential actions you can learn.

2. The "INSIDE KICK" is used for controlling the

ball. This is done with the inside of the foot, as its
name implies. Stand with your feet apart, and
bend your supporting leg a little. Hit the ball with
the inside of your other foot.
3. The "OUTSIDE KICK" is a defensive kick that
propels the ball upwards. To execute an outside
kick, the outside of your foot must make contact
with the ball as your knee bends inwards. The
entire kicking leg should make a right angle at the
knee, with the calf and foot pointing outwards.

4. The "KNEE KICK" actually utilises the thigh - the

ball is hit with the part of the thigh that is just
above your knee. The stance is reminiscent of
marching, but your knees would have to be raised
as high as possible. This kick is usually done by
players receiving a serve.
5. A "HEADER" spike in sepak takraw involves the
use of the forehead to make the ball fly,
especially when it's too high in the air for your
kick to reach it. This technique is used for both
serving and striking.

6. The "HORSE KICK SERVE" actually refers to a

high kick; kick as high as you need the ball to go,
and, using your foot, hit the ball backwards over
your shoulder or head.
7. The " CHEST AND SHOULDERS". You can use
any body part except the arms and hands when
playing sepak takraw. You can use the chest and
shoulders to bounce the ball off when trying to
get it into proper play position.

8. A "ROLL SPIKE" refers to jumping on one leg

and flipping in the direction that you want your
ball to move, all while remaining airborne. Using
the other foot, kick the ball over your opposite
shoulder.
8. A "SUNBACK SPIKE" is similar to the horse kick,
but done in a jump. To master this, take off on
one leg and and kick the other up (a scissor kick)
while still in the air. Before finishing the jump-
kick, hit the ball over your shoulder or head with
your other leg.

Any questions class? clarifications? Come on

class, ask questions. Whole class: None so far sir.
