d) first quartile
e) third quartile

Please use definitions as in Lecture 2 as well as formulae in Excel.

Question 2: Measures of dispersion

Given the [Link] file, please compute the following:

a) the range
b) the variance
c) the standard deviation

Please use definitions as in Lecture 2 as well as formulae in Excel. Also, assume at first the data
constitute a population. Then, assume the data are drawn from a population and represent a sample
of it. Can you appreciate any change in the final result with respect to points b) and c)?
