Argumentative Essay Reflection

Throughout this writing adventure, I finally got to put my opinion into writing. What I

learned from this assignment is to utilize the article to my advantage and create an arguments.

Using articles to set up examples from personal experiences allows me to combat a claim,

allowing me to weaken the writer’s claim.

This essay allowed me to focus on pulling information from my analysis essay and

utilizing it in this argumentative essay. This process may have been new, but it was not difficult

to navigate. Following the layout of my analysis essay I transferred over what claims I knew I

could combat with my own experience.

Another new strategy I used was incorporating personal experience. While using personal

experiences can mislead or even veer the topic off track, the interactions I have had with teachers

can be related to my readers, thus making it the correct time to involve myself in this writing.

In the process of creating my argumentative essay, I was able to learn many skills that can

be adapted and used for other courses. Skills such as setting up previously stated information to

build my argument on. By using what other riders have said, I was able to strengthen my claims

and experiences to combat the author’s take on how teachers could not compete with mentors. I

used areas where my sources said a teacher could not help students with a task, then proceeded to

include an experience where teachers did the task and more. By proving the claim to be false, I

have a base to elaborate on.

Improving my writing will still take time, however, through this assignment I learned to

pick and chose for my argument has opened my eyes for future writing. Being able to pick weak

parts from an article or claims that I could take down allows for me to structure my writing to

form a strong argument. This new leson allowed me to open my mind while reading and analysie

how I can put my ideas to strengthen my claim. When I made my analysis I was able to pick and

pull to things I could argue in this new essay. Pulling from my last writing has allowed me to

push my narrative onto my reader.

My strength in this essay was my push to including my personal experience in my

writing. This was possible due to the topic being available to all students. Everyone has gone to

school and has experienced teachers that love their job. Not many people have experienced time

with a mentor so I was able to argue with that in mind. My weakness in this essay was again my

strucuting in my paragraphs. In order to solve this problem my professor and I have decided the

more I read the easier time I will have building my essay. This will be because I will have

examples of better writing, being able to recreate others forms of writing and incorporating it

into mine will make my essays easier to read.

More on how my problem is that I am not reading enough. If I were to read more my

mind would know how to structure sentences and paragraphs. It is difficult to learn something if

there is no example to follow. My writing can be even better if I would read over my essay

before submission more. Simple mistakes as misspelling worlds and improper punctuation can

be fixed if I read my own paper out loud.

The most challenging aspect of this assignment was making my essay relatable to my

audience. I did not want to inclue anything that my audience (students) have not experienced,

making my writing hard to connect to. The least challenging part for my writing was pulling

from my analysis essay to create an argument. I already wanted to put my two cents in my

analysis essay and with my opinions being suppressed for that essay. This argumentative essay

allowed me to run on about my thoughts, I feld like this was an essay I have done before.

This anrgumentative essay allowed for me to growth more as an author. I have

maintained the same identity of a smart studnet who has strong position but is still on his

journey. This essay definitely allowed my mind to run free; more over, I had a lot of fun writing

this essay. My process to write has allowed me to enjoy the writing process and when I feel

better I perform better.
