Breath Weapon
At 1st level you gain a breath weapon useable once on
your attack action. After your attack action, roll a 1d6. On a
success of 5 or 6, your breath weapon recharges and can
be used on your next turn. If your roll is unsuccessful, you
must wait 1 minute before you can use your breath
weapon.
Each time you use your breath weapon, you can choose
whether it takes the form of a 15-foot cone or a 30-foot
line. This breath weapon deals 1d6 points of force
damage. A successful Dexterity save halves the damage.
The DC for the roll is equal to your warlock spell save DC.
As you gain more levels, your breath attack deals more
damage. At 5th level your breath attack deals 2d6 force
damage, 3d6 force damage at 11th level, and 4d6 force
damage at 17th level.
Your patron has allowed that some invocations that
affect eldritch blast can also affect your breath weapon,
though some of these invocations have minor changes
made to suit your breath weapon attacks. As you gain
warlock class levels, more breath effect invocations
become available to you when you meet their
prerequisites.
Great Resistance
The Great Wyrm has grown beyond the elemental forces
that governs a dragon's existence and has imparted some
of that ability onto you. At 6th level, when you finish a short
rest, choose a damage type from acid, cold, fire, lightning,
or poison. You gain resistance to your chosen damage type
until the end of your next short rest or long rest, whichever
occurs first.

The 'Essence of the Wyrm' feature epitomizes the thematic connection to the Great Wyrm by allowing the warlock to channel its innate spellcasting abilities. At 14th level, this includes the ability to cast three chosen spells from the Great Wyrm's expanded spell list without expending a spell slot, symbolizing the deepening bond and trust between the warlock and patron . Additionally, the feature grants the gift of flight through the 'Wings of the Patron' invocation, symbolically aligning the warlock more closely with the draconic nature of their patron .

The ability to change breath weapon forms, such as choosing between a 15-foot cone or a 30-foot line, and altering the damage type with the 'Breath of the Elements' invocation, reflects the warlock's growing expertise and control over the formidable powers granted by the Great Wyrm. This adaptability shows the integration of the warlock's skills with the patron's gifts, demonstrating not just raw power but strategic use tailored to specific combat scenarios . This mastery closely aligns with the patron's emphasis on evolving abilities, showing the warlock's progress and alliance with the Great Wyrm's overarching influence.

The 'Breath of the Elements' invocation offers strategic versatility by allowing the warlock to choose different elemental damage types for their breath weapon attack. The options—acid, cold, fire, lightning, and poison—enable the warlock to adapt to opponents' weaknesses or immunities effectively during combat. Additionally, the saving throw type differs for cold and poison attacks, requiring Constitution instead of Dexterity, which can be advantageous against foes with low Constitution defenses . This expanded adaptability enables tactical advantages, making it a powerful tool for managing diverse battle scenarios.

'Great Resistance' reflects the theme of gradual empowerment and transformation under the patron's influence by granting the warlock resistance to a chosen damage type (acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison) after a short rest. This ability suggests the patron imparting its own evolution beyond elemental constraints to the warlock. Thematically, it reinforces the idea of the warlock inheriting and embodying aspects of the patron's attributes, demonstrating the deepening integration of the patron's essence within the warlock . The selection of resistances also highlights the warlock's growing resilience and adaptability in various combat scenarios.

The 'Wings of the Patron' invocation dramatically enhances a warlock's mobility and battlefield strategy by providing the ability to fly, a critical advantage for positioning and evasive maneuvers. The flying speed equal to the warlock’s walking speed allows quick relocation in combat and offers strategic vantage points for spellcasting or observation. This mobility can be crucial in evading ground threats and controlling engagements from the air, effectively transforming the battlefield dynamics . Moreover, the ability to manifest and dismiss the wings as a bonus action adds to tactical flexibility, making retreat or pursuit actions more efficient.

'Repelling Blast' augments the effectiveness of a warlock's breath weapon by incorporating a knockback effect, applicable when the weapon is used as a line attack. This invocation allows the warlock to tactically reposition enemies, pushing them away from strategic points or allies, and potentially creating space for advantageous positioning or preventing enemy advances . This capacity for battlefield control enhances both the offensive and defensive capabilities of the warlock, leveraging the breath weapon not just for damage but also for manipulating the combat field to the warlock's favor.

The 'Puff of Smoke' invocation significantly alters the tactical application of the breath weapon by transforming it into a 20-foot radius cloud, which can obscure vision and affect multiple foes within the area. This expands the breath weapon's utility beyond direct damage, enabling the warlock to control the battlefield strategically by creating zones of obscurity for both offensive and defensive maneuvers. The larger area of effect is beneficial in dispersing groups and can be especially advantageous in tight formations or choke points during combat .

The 'Dreadful Presence' ability enhances a warlock's capabilities by granting them advantage on saving throws against the frightful presence of dragons. Additionally, it allows the warlock to bestow a frightful presence effect on a number of creatures equal to their Charisma modifier. These creatures must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute . This ability provides both defensive and offensive strategic advantages, increasing the warlock's effectiveness against dragon-like entities and leveraging fear against opponents.

The 'Control the Rage' invocation enhances cooperative combat scenarios by allowing the warlock to create safe areas within their breath weapon attack, thereby protecting allies from damage. By creating a number of protected areas equal to their Charisma modifier, the warlock can use their breath weapon offensively without harming teammates, allowing for more coordinated and aggressive assault strategies . This feature is particularly valuable in scenarios where allies are engaged with enemies at close range, ensuring that the warlock’s powerful breath attacks do not deter team synergy and effectiveness.

The expanded spell list of the Great Wyrm significantly enhances a warlock's spellcasting potential by providing an array of versatile spells across multiple levels. Spells like 'feather fall' and 'fog cloud' at 1st level provide utility and control, while 'ice storm' and 'cloudkill' at higher levels offer formidable offensive capabilities . The inclusion of 'legend lore' at 5th level enriches the warlock's ability to access and use knowledge strategically. This diversified spell list broadens the scope of a warlock’s offensive, defensive, and utility potential, allowing for complex, multi-faceted approaches to various challenges.
