Finds the volume of a rectangular prism using cu. cm and cu. m

Mathematics, Quarter Four – Week 3

Learning Competency with code

1. Finds the volume of a rectangular prism using cu. cm and cu. m. M4MEIVe-64

Volume of a Rectangular Prism

Volume is the space a three-dimensional figure occupies. It is expresses in cubic units (cu
or 3). The number of unit cubes that is enclosed or contained in a figure is the measure of the
volume of the figure.
A rectangular prism is a solid figure that has six faces, twelve edges and eight vertices.
Vertex (vertices in plural form) is the corner of a shape. Edge is a segment where two faces of a
prism meet. Some rectangular prisms have faces that are shaped like rectangles and squares.

height Volume = length x width x height

width Side = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 cubic units

length Answer: There 27 cubic units.

Example 1:

Volume = length x width x height

5 cm Volume = 5cm x 5cm x 5cm
5cm Answer: There 125 [Link]/cm3
5cm

Example 2:
Volume = length x width x height
3m Volume = 7m x 2m x 3m
2m Answer: There 42 cu.m/m3
7m
