Title: Igniting Digital Potential: Bridging the Digital Literacy Gap for Young

Adults (18-35) in India

Abstract:

This research delves into the digital literacy gap affecting young adults (aged 18-35) in India,
seeking strategies to empower them in actively navigating the digital revolution. While
considered "digital natives," many young adults lack the necessary skills and knowledge to
effectively leverage digital tools and information for personal and professional advancement.
This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys to assess
digital literacy levels and qualitative interviews to understand the challenges and aspirations of
young adults regarding digital engagement. The findings will inform the development of
targeted interventions and educational initiatives aimed at bridging the digital divide and
fostering the active participation of young adults in India's digital transformation.

Research Objectives:
1. To assess the current level of digital literacy among young adults (aged 18-35) in India.
2. To identify the key challenges and barriers hindering young adults from leveraging
digital tools and information for their interests.
3. To explore the aspirations and motivations of young adults regarding digital
engagement and participation in the digital revolution.
4. To develop recommendations for targeted interventions and educational initiatives to
empower young adults and bridge the gap in digital literacy.

Methodology:
1. Quantitative Survey: Conduct a survey among young adults (18-35) across various
regions (may not possible) of India to assess their digital literacy levels, usage patterns,
and preferences regarding digital tools and platforms. /I can conduct survey on
university students and teachers.
2. Qualitative Interviews: Conduct in-depth interviews with a subset of survey
respondents to delve deeper into their experiences, challenges, aspirations, and
motivations related to digital engagement.
3. Data Analysis: Analyse the survey data using statistical methods to identify trends and
patterns in digital literacy levels among young adults. Thematic analysis will be
employed to analyse the qualitative interview data and identify key themes and insights.
This data is available so I don’t have to do it all alone. (secondary)
4. Recommendations: Based on the findings, develop recommendations for policymakers,
educators, and stakeholders to design targeted interventions and educational initiatives
to empower young adults and enhance their digital literacy skills.

Expected Outcomes:
1. A comprehensive understanding of the current level of digital literacy among young
adults in India.
2. Identification of key challenges and barriers hindering young adults from effectively
leveraging digital tools and information.
3. Insights into the aspirations and motivations of young adults regarding digital
engagement and participation in the digital revolution.
4. Recommendations for actionable strategies and interventions to empower young adults
and bridge the gap in digital literacy, thereby enabling them to actively contribute to
India's digital transformation.

This research promises to contribute meaningfully to the existing knowledge base on digital
literacy and youth empowerment, providing valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and
stakeholders to design solutions aimed at fostering a digitally empowered generation in India.
