PERFORMANCE TASK (100 Points)
Instructions:
1. Your instructor will divide you into groups with five (5) members.
2. Your group will identify a Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited tourism and hospitality
establishment in your area. Through observation and interview, you will validate the presence or
absence of total quality management (TQM) principles within that establishment.
3. The following information must be provided:
● Overview of the tourism enterprise
o Name and address
o Type of enterprise
o Length of service
o Type of ownership
o Local/chain
o Products/services
o Name of interviewee and management position.
● Evaluate the presence or absence of TQM principles in the chosen establishment and
provide proof, such as the processes/strategies/standards performed.
● Determine the impacts of applying TQM principles on the enterprise.
4. The answers to the above items must be based on the responses of the establishment during the
interview and your observations.
5. Write a brief conclusion based on your analysis of the impacts/significance of TQM principles in the
operations of the identified tourism establishment.
6. Place your output on a short bond paper with the following formatting:
● Typeface and size: Calibri/Arial/Verdana, 11
● Spacing: Single
● Margin: 1” all sides
7. Create a PowerPoint presentation of your output.
8. You will be given 10 minutes to present your output, including questioning. Your presentation will be
on Week 4.
9. Your output and presentation will be evaluated using the rubric on the next page:
