DEFINITIONS
ROTATIONS
Genarally when a planned rotation occurs, the tire is moved to the opposite axle of the equipment.
Typically, in the case of trucks the tire is rotated from the front axle to the rear axle. In loaders, tires
can be rotated to either axle. For graders, tires are typically rotated from the rear axles to the front
position.

DEFINITIONS
MATCHING
Tire matchingkeeps dual tires operating with similar dimensions in height, allowing a uniform load
distribution on both tires.
A B
REVERSE MOUNTING
Reverse mounting is the movement of a tire for the purpose ofreversing the asymmetric wear
(tapered wear) on the tread. This is achieved when the tire is installed with the shoulder of less tread
depth oriented towards the rocks ejector (between the duals)

ROTATIONS
TRUCKS
Rotations are planned in accordance with the following
criteria:
- When the tire reaches 30-35% of the scrap tire performance
average (in hours) over the past 12 months.
This criteria will be influenced by:
- Spare (used) tires availables versus spare (used) tires
neededfor the rear axle
- Wear rate on the front axle (accelerated wear cases) 30-35%
Standards/ Rotation, Matching, Reverse Mount
For optimum tire performance on truck fleets, always mount new
tireson the front axle and rotate to the rear axle to complete their
life cycle.. Installing new tires on the rear axle could cause a
decrease in perfroamce due to a higher wear rate.
NOTE: With exception of operations that are using a specific (exclusive)
compound for the axle rear.
When asymmetric wear is detected on the front axle, if possible the tire(s) should be scheduled for
rotation to the rear axle and installed with the shoulder(s) with less tread rubber facing the rock
ejector. (Between the duals)

ROTATION
LOADER AND WHEEL DOZERS
Rotation are planned in accordance with the following criteria:
- When the rear tires have reached 70% tread depth (average wear from new)
This criteria will be influenced by:
- Spare (used) tires availables versus spare (used) tires needed
- Wear rate on the tire (accelerated wear cases)Note: When a bias tire is rotated, the rotation
direction must be maintained.
NOTE: When the bias tire is rotated, the rotation direction must be kept.

MATCHING
TRUCKS
Matching by tire depth
Tires of the same brand and structure may not exceed a difference of 12mm.
A-B= 12 mm
A B
Standards/ Rotation, Matching, Reverse Mount
Matching by circumference
When using different brands of tires, the matching must be measured by circumference.
Pa: Tire with larger circumference.
Pb: Tire with smaller circumference
Circumference
Pa Pb
The difference between Pa and Pb must be in accordance to the following tolerances..To compare
dual tires in this way, you must measure the circumference of each tire and compare the difference.
Rim Size Same Dual Between Dual Sets
Inflated Circum. Inflated Circum.

51 & 57” 6 cm 25 cm

MATCHING
LOADER AND WHEEL DOZER
On Caterpillar loaders, the difference between tire circumferences must not exceed to 3% on the same
axle, and 6% between the front and rear axles.
On Komatsu loaders, the difference between tire circumferences must not exceed to 4% on the same
axle, and 8% between the front and rear axles.

difference of 10 mm tread depth between shoulders on the same tire.

REVERSE MOUNTING
LOADERS
On loaders and wheel dozer, it is necessary to keep the tire's rotation direction. Therefore, it is NOT
recommended to make a reverse mount on the same position, it is better to change the position in
diagonal direction from the front axle to the rear axle.

When damage exixts or a repair is present, the tire should be installed with this pointing towards the
frame of the equipment.
NOTE: On the radial tires doesn't exist restrictions
AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT
Generally, graders don't need reverse mounting on the same axle.
On articulated trucks, follow the same recommendation of keeping the tire's rotation direction.
