Task 1:
The maps illustrate how a cinema has developed since 1980.
Overall, there are many changes made with the most noticeable being the addition of
three cinemas and other new facilities.
Looking at the two pictures, it is obvious that the Cinema 2 has been destroyed to make
way for the three smaller cinemas. The area where Cinema 1 used to be is now used for
contructiong two new facilities which are food drinks and relax room. The building
where drinks used to be solds is now replaced by the DVD shop. Ticket’s area remains
at the same position through the period. Similarly, the male toilet and female toilet has
not chnaged during the period, in both size and situation. The large space on the top of
the campus used to be the car park but it has been demonlished now.
Task 2:
In the modern world, obtaining news online has become a popular trend. I am into the
opinion that this trend overshadowing the traditional way of reading newspapers to
become the most crucial source of news.
The most obvious evidence supporting my viewpoint is the decline in the popularity of
traditional newspapers. Conventional newspapers is characterized by a time-consuming
process of editing, printing and distributing. This turns out to cause newspapers fail to
meet the instant demand of readers. Additionally, due to the fact that newspapers are
geographically limited, their reach and exposure levels are becoming lower than those
of online news. Apart from that, it is online press that helps news seekers around the
world access local as well as global news published by lots of prestigious publishers
including BBC, CNN, New York Times. Such availability of online news far outweighs
that of conventional news.
Moreover, in the era of advanced technology and communication, the domination of
Internet has boosted the popularity of online news to the extent that the concept of
buying and reading printed newspapers would become outdated and inconvenient.
Online Platforms which facilitate immediate news will certainly become the greatest
solution to satisfy the demand of news seekers. Thanks to the Internet – based
platforms, incidents happening across the globe can be updated just a few minutes after
its commencemen, while those news need a day later to be on printed newspapers.
In conclusion, inspite of the fact that conventional newspapers still hold some readers
now, I believe that they will soon be covered by online news.
