Project Proposal

I. Project Title: “HUMSS CAMP”

Promoting Engagement with
society and awareness on societal issues
in a camp environment.

II. Proponents: Grade 12 HUMSS Section Executive, Legislative, Judiciary

III. Venue: Gubat National High School

IV. Date and Time: March 8-9, 2024

V. Project Description: This project is entitled “HUMSS CAMP” with the theme
engagement with society among the student body of Gubat National High School.
Through a series of symposiums and activities set in a camp environment. This project
serves as a platform for students to be involve in societal issues, enabling them to be
able to reflect on what can they contribute in addressing or alleviating its impacts. This
initiative is led by the three Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences sections of
Gubat National High School, guided by Mr. Joseph Lastrilla, the subject teacher for
Community Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship.

The project will take place at Gubat National High School and is open to its students. It
will commence at 12:30 in the afternoon on March 8th and conclude at 4 in the
afternoon on March 9th.

VI. Rationale: According to Article II, Section 13 of the Philippine Constitution, the State
recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and shall promote and protect
their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being. It shall inculcate in the
youth patriotism and nationalism, and encourage their involvement in public and civic
affairs.

According to the most essential learning competencies (MELCs) for the subject
community engagement, solidarity and citizenship, there is promotion of Solidarity and
Cooperation, which means that students are encouraged to work collaboratively with
others, demonstrating empathy, respect, and solidarity across diverse communities.
Aside from this the (MELCs) for the subject also stated that there must be Global
Citizenship, Students develop an understanding of global interconnectedness, global
issues, and their role as global citizens in promoting peace, justice, and sustainable
development. Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement is also a part of the (MELCs)
for the community engagement, solidarity and citizenship the focus are instilling values
 of social responsibility, civic duty, and active participation in community development
and social issues among the students.

According to DepEd Order No. 31, s. 2020, titled "Policy Guidelines for the Learner
Support Fund in Basic Education Program," emphasizes the importance of community
participation and collaboration in supporting learners' needs. It encourages the
involvement of various stakeholders, including parents, local government units, non-
governmental organizations, and other community groups, in addressing educational
challenges and promoting holistic development

The Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences of Gubat National High School has a
specialized subject Community Engagement Solidarity and Citizenship wherein it aims
at enhancing the student’s sense of cooperation and initiative to contribute to the
persuasion of the common good of a community. It enables students to integrate
applied social sciences into community action initiatives. The students would like to
implement a HUMSS Camp this will promote unity and cooperation among the students
of Gubat National High School while fostering civic participation and social
responsibility.

In this condition, the proponents would like to implement a HUMSS Camp. This activity
will help to generate funds to support Community Engagement Solidarity and
Citizenship. The Grade 12 of Humanities and Social Sciences aims to empower their
fellow students and raise awareness on the importance of unity and solidarity in
addressing societal issues.

VII. Project Objective/s

 To promote cooperation and socialization among the students of GNHS.
 To advocate the student’s civic engagement and their social responsibilities.
 To Generate Funds for future community engagement projects.

VIII. Desired Impact and Outcome of the Project

1. The desired outcome of the project is for students to be able to enjoy and
socialize with their peers in a camp environment, and also to promote the
importance of unity and teamwork in solving societal issues.
2. Generate fund to support the future projects of the community engagement
solidarity and citizenship subject.
3. The HUMSS students have better awareness and understanding of the
societal problems; improved their critical thinking; strong leadership skills,
including team building, conflict management, and decision making;
increased their confidence in working with the community members,
stakeholders, and partners; and cultivation of a sense of civic responsibility
and engagement.

IX. Risk Management Plan

The proponents and participants will strictly follow the Do’s and Don’ts s during the activity.
Do’s
 Provide the required parents permit.
 Follow the facilitators instructions.
 Ask permission if going out the camp premise.
 Must already be in bed at 9:00 PM
 Clean as you go
To avoid the Potential risks associated with the event “HUMSS CAMP”, the following steps will be
considered:
 Ensure that students must not come out of their assigned room after 9:00 PM
 Ensure that there must always be a volunteer parent assigned for each room.
 Ensure that all participants and volunteers provide the necessary permits to join the event.
 Monitor the headcount of students every night.
 Ensure that the house rules are followed.
 Ensure that medical personnel are on hand throughout the event.
The participants will be guided to follow guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone. In addition,
for the safety and security of the event, we will communicate the risk management plan to all
involved in the event including the RCYC organization, MDRRO Gubat, participants, volunteers,
facilitator, and visitors.
