Water Pollution Control Measures
SPM has reduced the fresh water intake by 5 MLD (12 MLD to 9 MLD) form Narmada River.
SPM has signed the a revised agreement with Water Resources department, Bhopal (M.P.) with
the reduced quantity.
A 4.5 km long pipeline network has been laid down to use the recycled treated water in
the gardening & horticulture
SPM constructed a collection-cum-evaporation pond of 72 ML capacity for storing
excess treated water in the pond.
SPM has permanently stopped the treated water discharge to natural nallah by
constructing RCC obstruction in the final discharge line; and the treated water is being
used in gardening & horticulture and the excess water is stored in collection-cum-
evaporation pond.
ZLD Project Installation work of RO Plant 1500 x 3 = 4500 KLD is in progress. The first phase
shall be started by July 2022.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT OF SPM, NARMADAPURAM FOR
STATE LEVEL ENVIRONMENT AWARD
Implementation of LPG as the fuel for Boilers in place of existing
Installation of Automatic Shredder Briquetting Machine at SPM
Certification in Energy Management system
ISO-50001-2018.
Automatic Air-Filtration Unit
Zero liquid Discharge (ZLD) Project (4500 KLD)
Implementation of LPG as the fuel for Boilers in place of
existing
LPG is cleaner fuel, much cleaner than oil and produce less carbon
than oil when it’s burned. This can help to reduce carbon foot print
It produces very low Sulphur emissions (with in permissible
limit), hence it is pollution free fuel.
Combustion is virtually odorless compared to oil
No generation solid waste and make air pollution free
environment .
LPG is high calorific value of 11,900 Kcal/kg results in high
efficiency heat output.
LPG as the fuel for Boilers
Installation of Automatic Shredder Briquetting Machine at
SPM
Conversion of Spoil CWBN paper into Paper Briquettes
which resulted into Clean Environmental Conservation.
Completely Stop the incineration of spoil paper .
Safe and clean disposal of waste product.
Shredder Briquetting Machine Briquettes
Certification in Energy Management system
ISO-50001-2018.
ISO EnMS certification enables that organization to take a systematic
approach in order to achieve continual improvement of energy
performance, including energy efficiency, energy use and consumption
It specifies requirements applicable to energy uses and consumption,
including measurement, documentation and reporting, processes, and
personnel that contribute to energy performance
Implementation of this standard should lead to reductions in energy
cost, greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts,
through systematic management of energy.
The total energy cost saved about 4.12 crores in FY 2021-22 by
improvement of load factor, improvement of power factor & Contract
demand reduction.
Automatic Air-Filtration Unit
The old air filtration unit was very inefficient, it requires manual handing of
cotton dust & makes the environment very dusty and it directly hinders the
health of the employees working at new pulp plant.
To improve the quality, user-friendliness and dust free environment of the
pulp plant, an automated filtration unit with Briquette press installed for
the treatment of the cotton waste(cotton dust)
Safe and dust free environment.
Safe disposal of cotton waste.
Zero liquid Discharge (ZLD) Project (4500 KLD)
Presently, SPM draws around 9000 KLD fresh water from the Narmada River,
which is treated in WTP (capacity 11245 KLD or 2.5 MGD), and used in pulp
& paper manufacturing and other utilities. The effluent generation from pulp
& paper mill is around 6000 KLD, which is treated in 3-stage effluent
treatment plants. .
The main aim of SPM is to minimize the environmental impact of its
production process and to achieve continual improvement in
environmental performance. SPM consistently focused to reduce the
amount of waste produced and resources used in manufacturing process.
To increase the recycling and reuse the treated effluent in production process.
SPM is installing the 4500 KLD capacity 3 stage RO system. First phase 1500
KLD RO system is expecting to complete before August,2022.
WORKS ON HEALTH & SAFETY
SPM is committed to provide a Safe & Healthy workplace for all employees and
ensures that its operations are carried out in a manner that protects the environment
and community.
