Grade 6 Digestive System Lesson Plan

This lesson plan aims to teach 6th grade students about the functions of the major parts of the digestive system. The lesson will begin with introductory activities to engage students followed by an exploration activity to identify parts of the digestive system from pictures. Students will then learn about the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine through explanation and elaboration activities like call-and-response. The lesson will conclude by having student groups demonstrate the functions of different digestive organs through a dance evaluation activity. The overall goal is for students to understand how the major digestive organs work together as a system.
