Preliminary Activities
 Greetings
 Present the objectives of the session.
Activity Review:
A. Review the concepts of rational Functions.
Oral Recitation:
1. Determine the following functions whether it is a Rational
Functions or not?

a. f(x) =
2+ x
b. h(x) =
√ x +2
x+1 x 2−4
B. Review the Law of Exponents.
Board
Evaluate the following.
1. What is 53 ?
2. What is 50 ?
3. What is 5-2?

 Review the Law of Exponents thru a song.

 Review the Zero exponent and negative exponent

through a video presentation.

Real-Life Applications of Exponents:

 Exponents are fundamental, especially in Base 2 and

Base 16, as well as in Physics and Electronics formulas
involved in Computing.
 There has been an Exponential increase in the speed
and power of computers over recent years, and by
around 2030 computing power is predicted to match
that of the human brain.
 Exponents are the basis of “Demographics”
(Population Growth)
 Exponents are important in Investing and Finance.
 Exponents are also part of Food Technology and
Microbiology.

 Presentation and discussion on Solving the

Exponential equation.

 Illustrate how to solve the exponential equations using

Analysis video presentation.

 Present an example and Try this activity

(Buzz In Activity)

Example 1: Solve the equation 2x = 83

Try this! Solve 5x = 125

Abstraction
Example 2: Solve 32x = 95x

Try this! Solve 23x = 512

Example 3: Solve 32x = 95x-4

Try this! Solve 92x-1 = 36x

 The population of the Mansaka tribe in a certain

Municipality is estimated to increase by 10% per year.
Application The population today is 8 thousand. In how many years
that the Mansaka population will be doubled?
 Board exercise in solving exponential equations.
