CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

In this chapter, it describes the procedures, techniques, tools, and

documentation used, which motivate the researcher to develop Inventory

Management System of Pc Clinic Plus Computer Repair & Services of Dagupan City,

Pangasinan.

Research Design

This study entitled “Pc Clinic Plus Computer Repair & Services” is a

qualitative research that attempted to accumulate existing information and data

regarding the problem concern of this Society. Doing qualitative research is to

investigate and become more experienced with a particular phenomenon of the

researcher's interest in order to deliver a detailed description. This study depict the

current state of creativity of developing some elements of Inventory System of PC

Clinic Plus Computer Repair & Services system in the onset and spread of modern

technology like computer, some gadgets for communication. The researcher decided

to use the qualitative approach in order to verify the observations on negative aspects

concerning existing system. The research would utilize both descriptive and

exploratory research methods in the conduct of the study. Descriptive research is a

20

method used to obtain information relating to the current status of an issue

orphenomenon to describe what exist within the variables or conditions of the

situation. The researcher would made use of observations from experience of being

traineeat theiroffice in order to come up with a personal description of the answer to

the research problem. Exploratory research, on the other hand, is often utilized in

order to yield information to explain problems which are not yet clearly defined or the

real scope is still unclear. It allowed the researcher to be familiar with the concepts of

the problem under study to facilitate development of insights and hypotheses. The

study gathered information regarding the effects of existing system on the behavior of

PC Clinic Plus Computer Repair & Services employees during their work. The

researcher made use of existing literature in order to verify her observations and come

up with preliminary ideas regarding the research problem.

Research Setting

The setting of the developed project is conducted mainly in Inventory

Systemof PC Clinic Plusof DagupanCity, Pangasinan.

Techniques and Tools

The following listed below are tools used by the researcher in developing this

project.
21

PHP - is an open source general-purpose server-side scripting language originally

designed for Web development to produce dynamic Web pages. It is one of the first

developed server-side scripting languages to be embedded into an HTML source

document rather than calling an external file to process data. The code

is interpreted by a Web server with a PHP processor module which generates the

resulting Web page. It also has evolved to include acommand-line interface capability

and can be used in standalone graphical [Link] can be deployed on most

Web servers and also as a standalone shell on almost every operating

system and platform free of charge. PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page, it

is now said to stand for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, a recursive acronym.

XAMPP - is a free and open source cross-platform web server solution

stack package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database,

and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.

Microsoft Word 2007– A full-featured word processing program for Windows from

Microsoft. Included in the Microsoft application suite, it is a sophisticated program

with rudimentary desktop publishing capabilities that has become the most widely

used word processing application now a day.

Data Gathering Instrument

Collecting data is the most important in conducting the research. There are

many ways for a researcher to gather data for analysis goals. Some of the following
22

instruments for gathering data are:

Interview – an interview is a way to collect important information in

conducting research. This is the primary step in order to get the different answers for

the acquisition of the research. To develop a system personal interview on the

corresponding persons regarding the study, which include the question on how, what

the process which going to tackle or focusing in the main objective of the problem.

Using Internet in Research – The Internet is a great tool for finding primary

source for research the key in locating relevant references. The most important

advantage of using the Internet for research is that it is easy to get information.

Downloading to Internet – internet offers so much information online in a

convenient way. With this reason, the researchers used the internet to get additional

information in making the proposed system.

Sources of Data

The researchers will gather data from the manager, the supervisor, stock man,

stock clerk and cashier of PC Clinic Plus Computer Repair & Services computer sales

Dagupan City through interview guide. These were the primary resources of data and

information needed in this study.

The researchers visited different school libraries to gather data and

information. We scanned different kind of books, and these is to explore ideas and

concepts necessary in the conduct of the study. Other than that they also surfed the

internet to relate some theories, concepts and principles to the present study make it

more efficient, accurate and reliable.

System Development Life Cycle

It is a conceptual model used in web management that describes the stages

involved in an information system developments project, from an initial feasibility

study through maintenance of the complete application.

The System Development Life Cycle includes the following steps:

Requirement Gathering Stage – this step includes collecting the raw data

and materials that is needed in making a system.

26

Analysis – the requirement specifications from first phase are studied

carefully and list the details involve in making a system. They are prepared in an

organized manner and then technically documented. The researcher gathered

information about the Pc Clinic Plus Computer Repair & Services. After the data

gathering, they analyze the information according to the website purpose d. When the

analysis proves to be incomplete the researchers used to return in requirements

gathering stage.

Planning and Designing – in this phase the overall structure of the system

and its layout are defined to plan different milestone of the development. When the

planning and designing proves to be incomplete the researchers need to return to first

and the second step.

Testing and Quality Assurance – testing methodology is used in order to

detect bugs. The bugs are fixed and the final system is tested to make sure that it

needs the requirements in making system. When the testing or quality assurance

proves to be incomplete, the researcher needs to return from the beginning or to the

succeeding steps.

Implementation – small modules are developed first and then they are

integrated and implemented to meet the requirements in making a system.

Presentation of Existing System

In this study show the model of the existing system during work period after

validating the purchase products and purchase orders of different offices, the

employees are free to use the existing system. It will be the frustrating problems

encountered by employees during the process of their orders and request.

After the process of purchasing, receiving and employees will be able to save

the request and orders of their office from their accounts. In able to do their jobs, the

users are free to open and manipulate the system.

The developed system is a network based in order to access the

information account of employee.
