1Subject Area Science 10 - Nervous System
Quarter Third Quarter
I. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES At the end of 60 minutes lesson, the student should be able to;
a. Define nervous system;
b. Determine two major division of nervous system;
c. Identify the parts and functions of central nervous system and
peripheral nervous system; and
d. Realize the importance of maintaining a healthy nervous system
A. CONTENT STANDARD The learners should be able to describe the parts of nervous system and
their functions.
B. PERFORMANCE The learners demonstrate an understanding of how the major organs of
STANDARD the human body works together.
LEARNING Describe how the nervous system coordinates and regulates these
COMPETENCY/OBJECTIVES feedback mechanisms to maintain homeotasis.

Re - arrange the jumbled words to write the correct word.
R B I A N 1. An organ located within the skull that functions as
organizer and distribution.
I S P N L A C R O D 2. Serve as a channel of the signals between the
brain and the rest of the body.
C R E E M U B R 3. Large, located on the upper part of the brain that
controls activity.

C R E E L U B E L M 5. Locate under the cerebrum that controls
posture, balance, and coordination.
IV. LESSON PROPER
A. Teacher Discussion GUIDE QUESTIONS:
Q1. How will you differentiate the central nervous system (CNS) and the
peripheral nervous system (PNS) in terms of their functions.
Q2. What happen to human body if one part of the nervous system fails
to carry out its function property?
Q3. What does nervous system do? How does it transmit message
between the brain and body?
Q4. The nervous system has two major division. What does each part do?
Q5. There are three section of the brain, which part controls movements?
B. ACTIVITY PROPER Let the student do the activity 1, from the science 10 learner’s material
book. Using the given graphic organizer concept showing the structure of
the nervous system.
C. REPORTING Have the learners randomly picked to provide correct answer while
checking their activity and correcting their mistakes.
V. GENERALIZATION The nervous system is the major controlling. Regulatory, and
communicating system in the body. It is the center of all mental activity.
Together with the endocrine system, the nervous system is responsible
for regulating and maintaining homeostasis.
VI. APPLICATION The nervous system plays a role in nearly every aspect of our health and
well-being. It guides everyday activities such as waking up; automatic
activities such as breathing; and complex processes such as thinking,
reading, remembering, and feeling emotions. And also neuroscientists
study these and other nervous system functions in both healthy and
diseased states. Studying and understanding the nervous system is
important because it affects so many areas of human health and well-
being.
VII. EVAUATION Identify and enumerate the statement below:
Q1. Serve as the main processing center of nervous system.
Q2. Serve as a channel for signals between the brain and the rest of the
body.
Q3. the nerves carry motor and sensory signals.
Q4. Connects the central nervous system to organs and limbs.
Q5. This system is associated with voluntary control of body movements.
Q6-7. Give the 2 subdivisions of the autonomic nervous system.
Q8-10. Give the 3 main parts of brain.
VIII. ASSIGNMENT What is nerve cell and nerve impulse?
