Filleting Techniques in SolidWorks

This document discusses various modeling techniques in SolidWorks including fillets, mirroring, and library features. It provides steps to create a knob part using face fillets, constant radius fillets, variable radius fillets, mirroring, and inserting a library feature for a keyway. These techniques are demonstrated in a tutorial for designing basic parts in SolidWorks.

03. Fillets.

Working with Tutorials in SolidWorks

3.1 Fillets, Mirroring and Library Features
In this lesson we introduce some basic techniques for designing parts guided by
the tutorials in SolidWorks. The necessary steps in designing the part called
Knob include:

 Managing windows for SolidWorks and SolidWorks Tutorials

 Using various Fillet features: face, constant radius and variable radius
 Using the Mirror feature to create symmetrical parts
 Applying a Library feature

Step 5: Filleting the Parting Line:

Step 6: Inserting a Library Feature:

 Select the Design Library tab on the Task Pane

 Expand Design Library
 Navigate to features\metric\keyways
 Drag bore with square keyway bs 4500p1 onto the part
 In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click bore with square keyway bs
4500p1 and select Edit In Context.
 The *.sldlfp file opens.

Step 7: Editing the Library Feature:

 In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click Keyway and select Edit
Feature

 In the PropertyManager, under Direction 1: Select Blind in End Condition,
Set Depth to 5, Click
 Click Window, [Link] to return to the part window.

The part updates with the modified keyway.

Summary
In this lecture we discuss filleting, mirroring and library features for modeling
methods for creating the first parts, assembly and technical drawing in
SolidWorks parts.
