HSV Chicken Box Measles ‫الحصبة‬

Mostly asymptomatic Primary varicella zoster Measles morbilli-virus


Type 1  oral Type 2  genitalia - Incubation 9-21 days CCC : Coryza + Cough + Conjunctivitis
-fever, malaise, anorexia Fever
- Very infectious Rash: start behind ear and spread downward
-Non –infectious when become crusted
Gingivostomatitis: Eczema
herpeticum:
Vesicular lesion on lips,
tongue,hard palatepainful Vesicular lesion on
eating and drinking eczematous skin
dehydration

Herpetic whitlow: *Conservative - Bacterial


Painful, *IVIG superinfection 
erythematous, toxic shock
Immune-compromised syndrome,
edematous white
Patient on steroid necrotizing
pustules on fingers
Neonate fasciitis
Blepheritis: Conjunctivitis:
Shingles *hospitalization & isolation

Rash is the first sign : maculopapular on Inflammation of medium vessels . < 5 Y/O
face then spread to the whole body 5th disease
Erythema infectiousom
Lymphadenopathy: occipital, sub-occipital, Parvovirus B19
Post auricular Fever, malaise, headache  slapped cheek
peeling
 maculopapular (lace like) rash on body
- In school age. -Common in girls
Strawberry tongue

Irritability, BCG site induration

forchheimer spots: *High dose Aspirin – 30-40mg/kg/day


Lifelong – then low dose *Conservative Tx
*IVIG
Arthritis
*Echo – when diagnosed & after 4-6 wks -Aplastic crisis – in children with chronic
Encephalitis
hemolytic anemia or immune-deficient
Myocarditis Aneurysm – coronary arteries
-Fetal death if vertical transmission

Scarlet Fever Roseola infantum Infectious mononucleosis
DDx of Kawasaki < 1 Y/O EBV
Group A strep. Pharyngitis HHV-6, 7 Post Abx use
Sore throat, headache, fever, Start with flu-like symptoms and fever  Tonsillitis—very exudative
then when fever start to decrease, the rash Enlarged LN
Cicumoral pallor will appear
White coated tongue  Strawberry tongue Snoring – enlarged adenoid
Maculo-papular rash
Sand paper rash Not itchy—to differentiate it from drug
allergy
Later: extremities skin peeling
50%- splenomegaly, 10%-hepatomegaly

Meningo-encephalitis
Facial nerve involvement
Myocarditis

Serology may be negative in early disease

Tx:
Doxycycline
Amoxicillin  for <12 y/o
IV ceftriaxone  if carditis or neurological
disease
