CHAPTER 4
This chapter presents, analyze, interprets the data gathered from the
questionnaire that was used as an instrument in this study.
SOP 1: How do grade 12 ICT students use ChatGPT in their academic study routines?

The table states that Grade 12 ICT students remained neutral to the idea of
using ChatGPT as an essay writing assistant with an average mean of 3.08. This data
stated that in most cases, some minorities use ChatGPT as a tool to assist them in
essay writing. But most of the students remained neutral.
Q2. I use ChatGPT to prepare for the exam and activities.

The results suggest that in the scenario where ChatGPT is used as a tool to
prepare for the exams and activities, Grade 12 ICT remained neutral, with a weighted
mean of 2.95. This states that although most ICT students remained neutral, some
students still use ChatGPT to prepare for exams and activities, and some students do
not.

In the terms of ChatGPT being used as a tool to correct grammatical errors,
students remained neutral, as supported by the weighted mean of 3.02. This shows
that some minorities of ICT students use ChatGPT as a tool to help them do their
assignments, but some other students do not.

students remained neutral, as supported by the weighted mean of 3.26. This shows
that although the majority of the ICT students remained neutral, more minorities of ICT
students still use ChatGPT as a tool to correct their grammatical errors supported by the
data that out of 80 respondents, 32 (40%) agreed on the given scenario.

to answer their inquiries with the weighted mean of 2.78. This suggests that ICT
students use ChatGPT as a tool to answer different inquiries but not all ICT students do.
SOP 2: In what way does ChatGPT influence the academic performance of Grade 12
ICT students in G.I.S.T?

shows that the majority of the ICT students do not commonly rely their “on-the-spot”
activities in school in ChatGPT, as supported by the fact that out of 80 respondents, 27
(33.75%) remained neutral, and 25 (31.25%) disagreed.

do not depend all of their activities and assignments on ChatGPT.
CHAPTER 5
This chapter presents the summary, conclusions, and recommendations of researchers
after the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of the data gathered in this study.
Summary of findings
The findings revealed that Grade 12 ICT students moderately use ChatGPT in
their academic routines. This indicates that there's a minority of students who still
incorporate ChatGPT in their study routines, although it's just a few in some scenarios.
In most cases like using ChatGPT as a tool to help with grammar corrections, most of
the minorities agreed. Though the majority remained neutral, there's still several
students who use ChatGPT as a grammar correction tool. The findings also revealed
that ChatGPT has a role in influencing grade 12 ICT students' academic performance.
Since students do not fully incorporate ChatGPT in their study routines, ChatGPT
doesn't fully influence their academic performance in some cases. The findings revealed
ChatGPT has a little to no drawbacks in the academic performance of grade 12 ICT
students. The findings indicate that in most cases of different “drawbacks”, students
disagreed. This indicates that they don't experience the given cases since most of them
do not commonly use ChatGPT in their overall routines.
Conclusion
1. How do Grade 12 ICT students in G.I.S.T use ChatGPT in their academic study
routines?
The study concluded ChatGPT is being used in the study routines of grade 12
ICT students. Although the students moderately incorporate ChatGPT in their study
routines supported by most of the findings that fell under the category of neutral. Some
minority of students in some cases have been incorporating ChatGPT in their study
routines. Although the majority of the students remained neutral, the scenario with the
highest weighted mean was the case of ChatGPT being used as a tool to correct
grammatical errors with a weighted mean of 3.26. Several minorities of Grade 12 ICT
students have this scenario agreed upon.
2. In what way does ChatGPT influence the academic performance of Grade 12
ICT students in G.I.S.T?
The study also revealed that ChatGPT does not commonly influence the
academic performance of grade 12 ICT students as stated by the findings that most of it
fell under the neutral category. Although there's a minority of students who have their
academic performance influenced by ChatGPT, most of the ICT students' academic
performance still isn’t commonly affected by the influence of ChatGPT. The case where
ChatGPT influences the students the most based on the findings is the scenario where
it helps the students learn more about correcting their grammatical errors with a
weighted mean of 3.01.
3. What are the perceived drawbacks of using ChatGPT in the academic
performance of Grade 12 ICT students in G.I.S.T?
The study then concluded that ChatGPT has little to no drawbacks in the
academic performance of Grade 12 ICT students in GIST. The findings stated that most
of the students were not experiencing the different scenarios that were given to them in
the survey questionnaire. This stated that most Grade 12 ICT students in G.I.S.T do not
commonly experience any drawbacks of ChatGPT in their academic performance.
Therefore, the research found little to no drawbacks between ChatGPT and the
academic performance of Grade 12 ICT.
To summarize, the study found out that most Grade 12 ICT students do not fully
incorporate ChatGPT in their study routines, but some students do. Basing the data on
the minorities, the given scenario that most students agreed on was the use of
ChatGPT as a tool to help them correct their grammar. Since most of the ICT students
do not commonly use ChatGPT in their study routines, it doesn't commonly influence
their academic performance, leading to most of them not experiencing most of the
drawbacks from ChatGPT. ChatGPT is in fact has a role to few students, based on the
data of the minorities, and the weighted mean, it has a role in using as a tool to help
grammatical errors. Which rejects the null hypothesis stating that there is no role
between ChatGPT and the academic performance of Grade 12 ICT students.
Recommendations
The researchers recommend the ICT students to be more open in exploring
different applications that use technology like AI-Powered Chatbots and others like
ChatGPT. Although we do not recommend the students to fully incorporate these apps
in their study routines, we do not forbid them to make use of these apps but with proper
usage and limitations. Learn how to properly use these kinds of apps, be open to what it
does and what it can affect and explore new things or applications that might help them
to further improve their academic performance.
The researchers recommend the teachers to be more aware that the students
have been incorporating this app in their study routines based on the tally in Chapter 4.
Remind and guide the students to these kinds of topics, have them learn about the
effects of ChatGPT in their academic performance.
