Rene Magritte: Artistic Timeline and Milestones

Rene Magritte was a Belgian surrealist artist born in 1898. Some of his most representative early works from 1919-1925 include Bather from 1921 and Donna from 1923. His style was influenced by his mother's suicide by drowning. From 1926-1930 while living in Paris, he produced works like The Difficult Crossing from 1926 and The Empty Mask from 1928. He later married Georgette Berger who became his frequent model. His career spanned from 1898 until his death in 1967, working through various periods and locations and producing famous works such as The Treachery of Images from 1929 and Golconda from 1953.

Magritte's exhibits his first Futurist-inspired paintings along with works by the painter Pierre Flouquet. Pure geometric abstraction seems too radical to Magritte who begins to search for a different pictorial language, finding it in Cubism and Futurism. Again meets Georgette Berger

Completes Golconda: small men in overcoats and bowler hats float weightlessly in a blue sky in front of facades of houses. This bowler-hatted figure becomes Magritte's emblem par excellence. He is present in many works after the 1950's.

Font Choice: Gill Sans MT family. Reasons: Gill sans MT font family includes different fonts: italic, bold, bold italic and regular, almost covering all of my needs. Besides, they provide good readability on posters. Design Process: First I looked for related materials. I found his life events at [Link] and his art works at [Link] Then I studied sample timeline work from web. Then I drew sketches on my own sketchbook. Starting to design using illustrator and photoshop. Modify and modify and modify it. Color: Grey for the basic timeline, Balck for life events,different color represent different periods. I used brushes a lot here to be consistent with the painting style. Most of the colors have high saturation because I assumed they could catch peoples attention. Color Scheme:
