AQUILION LIGHNING 16 SLICE CT-SCAN
EFFICIENT DESIGN FOR SAFETY
The Aquilion Lightning gantry features design innovations to improve the
scanning experience for patients as well as providing excellent operability
and ensuring safety. The spacious 780 mm wide bore and 470 mm wide
couch ensure comfortable scanning for even the largest patients.
CANON’S DOSE REDUCTION TECHNOLOGIES
INTEGRATED DOSE REDUCTION
Canon’s 4th generation iterative reconstruction AIDR 3D Enhanced offers
superb image quality and has been designed to work in both the raw data
and reconstruction domains. Furthermore it’s fully integrated into the
automatic tube current modulation software SUREExposure 3D, taking the
guesswork out of optimizing patient dose. The exposure dose is
automatically reduced by up to 75%.With SUREkV, the lowest kV will be
selected based on patient size and SUREExposure settings for low-kVp
imaging
SAFER IMAGING – BETTER CARE
PURE
VISION DETECTOR
Through lower radiation doses and low-kVp imaging, Canon’s
new PUREViSION detector offers peace of mind in the optimization of
radiation and contrast dose protocols, permitting physicians to perform
safer CT examinations for all patients. Breakthrough innovations in
manufacturing processes and Data Acquisition System (DAS) design have
resulted in a detector with a 40% increase in light output and minimal
electronic noise, making PUREViSION one of the most efficient detectors
commercially available and still the only detector featuring true 0.5 mm
resolution.
SURE
EXPOSURE 3D ADAPTIVE
The integration of dose reduction technologies is essential for optimal
dose management. AIDR 3D has therefore been seamlessly integrated
with SUREExposure 3D, Canon’s automatic tube current modulation
software. SUREExposure 3D modulates the exposure for each patient based
on a preset target level of image quality. When combined with AIDR 3D, X-
ray exposure is automatically reduced before the scan, while maintaining
the preprogrammed image quality adjusted based on the expected level of
noise reduction. This combination provides a unique solution for robust
dose management.
COMPREHENSIVE LOW-DOSE EXAMINATION
MPR IMAGE GENERATION – MULTIVIEW
MultiView automation saves time by reconstructing MPR images as a part of the exam protocol,
reducing the number of images for initial review and/or printing.
TECHNOLOGIES
SURE
Canon’s sophisticated clinical application software packages for various anatomical regions provide
automated processing for accurate diagnosis and significant improvements in workflow.
AUTOMATED BONE REMOVAL
Aquilion Lightning incorporates automated bone removal algorithms to
quickly and accurately segment bone in CT angiography examinations. In
just a few seconds, high-quality angiographic images are available for
diagnosis.
EASY 3D
Aquilion Lightning’s user-friendly 3D imaging package allows you to
generate volume images with outstanding ease of use. With a simple push
of a button you select a specific protocol and the desired images are
displayed
ADAPTIVE DIAGNOSTICS
Subtraction and vHP (variable Helical Pitch) are Canon’s unique
SURE
Adaptive Diagnostic Scan modes that simplify complex protocols and
provide excellent results.
SURE
SUBTRACTION LUNG
Enhance diagnostic capability of pulmonary CTA studies with blood flow mapping of lung
parenchyma. Advanced subtraction techniques provides iodine signal over 3 times higher compared to
a dual energy acquisition.
SURE
SUBTRACTION ORTHO
Faster and more accurate diagnosis for CTA studies with automatic pixel perfect registration and
subtraction of bones, calcium and stents.
VHP
Variable Helical Pitch (vHP) permits seamless change of scan speeds (pitch) during one continuous
acquisition, and enables a combination of gated and non-gated acquisitions within one scan. vHP
offers enormous benefits in examinations such as the evaluation of aortic dissection and TAVR
planning.
SEMAR
Canon’s innovative SEMAR (Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction)
utilizes a sophisticated iterative reconstruction technique to virtually
eliminate metallic artifact, improving visualization of implants, supporting
bone and the adjacent soft tissues for a clearer and more confident
diagnosis.
