Exercise 3.1.1 Poetry Writing

In 1872, while Doña Teodora Alonzo was imprisoned, Jose Rizal was sent to Manila to study in
Ateneo Municipal de Manila, a college under the supervision of the Spanish Jesuit friars. In
Ateneo, Rizal exemplified scholastic excellence. He was also able to showcase his talents in
various fields such as poetry. The first poem Rizal wrote during his days Ateneo was Mi Primera
Inspiracion (1874), which he dedicated to his mother on her birthday. He also dedicated the
poem in honor of his native town. Other poems of Rizal include Por la Education Recibe Lustre
la Patria and Alianza Intima Entre la Religion y la Buena Educacion.

Instructions: Write a three-stanza poem dedicated to your mother or to your native town showing
your love, honor, gratitude, and appreciation.

HOME

I live in the middle of the mountain.

People are very far away from this so-called city.
Everything is green, and rivers are clean.
I can describe it as simplicity.

Language is not a barrier.

We respect and value each other.
I am happy to live in a place where peace is there.
willing to protect and love each other.

A place that can give you comfort.

A place where you can get away from stressors
A place where family and friends are there.
And that place is my home.
Exercise 3.1.2 The Value of Education

Instructions: Write a 300 to 500-word personal reflection on the value and significance of
education in the success of a person in the modern world. Keep in mind Jose Rizal’s undying
commitment to education in writing your reflections.

Let's first examine the effects and impacts that education has on people's lives. A boy learns
numerous small things when he receives a proper education. And these seemingly insignificant
things cause his life to shift dramatically. For instance, even though two girls with different
levels of education are residing in the same facility, there are still considerable distinctions
between them. A person's taste can be altered by education. Additionally, it enables us to
determine what is and is not better for me. A child or girl who has received adequate education
will be aware of their body well enough to take care of it. They'll be able to handle minor
issues. They behave properly around their family and other individuals. They behave and
strive as though they expect a better life. They enjoy reading novels that inspire them to think
large and have unique ideas. All the wonderful inventions have been made in this manner.
They live better lives and have greater perspectives on life. They are adored and provide
happiness to people. That is how education affects people's lives and transforms them for the
better. The greatest benefit of schooling is that. Education helps us develop our sense of
independence. Self-reliance is a crucial component of human existence. We must all rely on
ourselves instead of relying on others. That is how we may make plans for a brighter future.
For someone with education, it becomes quite simple. Your chances of finding a better career
and improving your financial status increase with education. Your financial condition will
improve as you become more independent. These are what education stands for. And it is a
universal truth that without adequate education, we cannot succeed in this day and age. To
ensure everyone has access to education, the nation should do so.
