Activities can be divided into two different groups.

1st activity: Teacher Says activity – let the kids grab their chairs and give
them cups and pencils. Tell them that they will need to do what you instruct
them.

“Teacher says put the cup on your chair.”

“Teacher says put your 1 finger in your cup.”

“Teacher says sit on your chair.”

“Teacher says put your pencil in your cup.”

Note: You may give more instructions that can help them recognise
prepositions in and on.

2nd activity: Matching: Board activity - show pictures on the board and ask
kids which proper preposition they should use.

For a deeper understanding, let the kids watch “The Green Frog - Where is
it? (In/On/Under) - English animated story for Kids”, after watching, have
another discussion of the three basic prepositions and do a recitation. Check
if the kids are getting along with the lesson by asking questions and using
different materials.

Independent/group activities 20/25 minutes:

Tell the children that today’s activities will be about the first three basic
prepositions: in, on and, under. Activity can be divided into two different
groups.

1st activity: Draw my directions activity – using the kids whiteboard and
markers, instruct the kids that they will draw by following your instructions.
Tell kids that they will draw a house by following your instructions. Instruct
them with the following:

- “Draw a large square on the bottom half of your whiteboard.”

- “Draw two small squares inside the large square at the top. The small
squares should be opposite each other.”

- “Draw a rectangle inside the square under one of the small squares.”

- “Draw a triangle on top of the large square.”

- “Draw a small circle inside the rectangle. It should be in the middle


of the rectangle and to one side.”

- “Finally, draw two cross lines through each small square dividing it
into four smaller squares.”

Group 2 activity: Cut and paste worksheet activity


- Provide each child with a worksheet that allows them to cut an object
that shows how the preposition was used and place it in the right
column.

kids an urge to keep in mind the lesson being discussed.
