Free Knitted Horse Sweater Pattern

This document provides instructions for knitting a children's sweater with horses. SWEATER WITH HORSES

SIZES: Children‘s(128 cm) (Women‘s: Men‘s)


Chest: 86 (109:119) cm
Length to underarm: 48 (67:71) cm
Sleeve length to underarm: 31 (44:49) cm

MATERIALS
Létt-Lopi ▪ 50 g balls
A-0053, acorn heather OR
A-0057, grey heather 5 (8:10)
B-0051, white 2 (3:3)
C-0005, black heather 1 (2:2)

5 mm (US 8) and 3 ½ mm (US 4) circular needles 40


and 80 cm
5 mm (US 8) and 3 ½ mm (US 4) double pointed
needles

GAUGE
18 sts og 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm measured over St st
using 5 mm needles. Check gauge and adjust
needle size if necessary.

BODY
Cast on 134 (176:194) sts with A using 3 ½ mm circular needle. Join in a circle and
work rib *k1, p1* for 5 (6:6) cm, incr 20 sts evenly spaced in last rnd => 154
(196:214) sts.
Change to 5 mm circular needle and work in St st until body measures 27 (41:43) cm.

SLEEVES
Cast on 32 (42:44) sts with A using 3 ½ mm dpns. Join in a circle and work rib *k1,
p1* for 5 (6:6) cm, incr 10 (14:14) sts evenly spaced in last rnd => 42 (56:58) sts.
Change to 5 mm dpns and work in St st. Inc 1 st after first st and 1 st before last st of
rnd in every 8th (9th: 9th) rnd up sleeve, total 7 (9:10) times => 56 (74:78) sts. Cont
without further shaping until sleeve measures 31 (44:49) cm from cast on edge.
Place 13 (14:16) sts underarm on st holder => 43 (60:62) sts.

YOKE
Join body and sleeves as follows: With A using 5 mm circular needle, place the last
6 (7:8) sts and the first 6 (7:8) sts of body on st holder for underarm. K 43 (60:62) sts
of first sleeve. K 65 (83:91) sts for front, place next 12 (14:16) sts of body on st holder
for underarm. K 43 (60:62) sts of second sleeve. K 65 (85:91) sts for back => 216
(288:306) sts. Work patt and dec‘s from chart as indicated. Change to shorter needle
when necessary. When chart is complete => 72 (96:102) sts.
Change to 3 ½ mm needle and cont with A. K 1 rnd and dec evenly spaced 14
(26:28) sts => 58 (70:74) sts. Work *k1, p1* rib for 9 (11:11) rnds. P 1 rnd and work
*k1, p1* rib for 8 (10:10) rnds. Bind off loosely. Fold neckline to inside and fasten
loosely. Graft underarm sts tog and weave in loose ends. Rinse sweater by hand in
lukewarm water and lay flat to dry.
