Practical Research Methodology Guide

The document outlines the key steps and components of conducting practical research, including identifying a problem, reviewing literature, collecting and analyzing data, and writing a report. It discusses the importance of research in adding to existing knowledge and informing policies or practices. The document then provides details on typical chapters and sections in a research paper, such as the introduction, literature review, methodology, and findings. It also describes common research designs, sampling techniques, instruments, and statistical analyses used in research.

Research

Research Process

1. identification of the problem

2. literature review
3. setting the direction
4. collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
5. evaluation of the report writing
6. community application or utilizing of research

Importance of doing research

 it adds to the existing body of knowledge

 it can improve or enhance current practices
 it can informe policy

Characteristics of good research Some of sampling techniques

a) rigorous 1. Simple random sampling

b) replicable
c) accurate
2. Systematic random sampling
d) objective
e) ethical
3. Stratified random sampling

Chapter 1

Introduction

 Background of the study

 statement of the problem
 significance of the study
 Hypothesis
 scope and limitations
 theoretical framework
 conceptual framework
 paradion
 definition of terms

Chapter 2

review of related literature

Chapter 3
Methodology

Locale of the study - history

- the updated population of the school

Research Design

Quantitative - descriptive correlational research design

- frequently or by establishing the effect or relationship of the variable of the study using
statistical compilation

Qualitative - Described generally as being concerned with the details of the phenomenon as experienced
by the participants

Descriptive-Correlational Test of relationship between the variables. Relationship between managerial

effectiveness and the variables age, educational attainment, and mental ability

Experimental Research

Draw a causeand-effect relationship between the variables.

Control group and Experimental group Pre-test and Posttest

Respondents (Give the reason why they are the respondents)

Population and Sampling (State what population and Sampling you use in your study and Include the
reason)

Simple random sampling A method of choosing samples in which all the members of the population are
given equal chance to be selected as respondents

Systematic random sampling a method of selecting every nth element of the population

Stratified random sampling A probability sampling option where the population is broken down or
separated into strata like segments or sections

Research Instrument State here if your research questionnaire is patterned or not.

Validation of Instrument If patterned, no need for this part If not, state here the process of making a self
made questionnaire

Data Gathering Procedure Describe the process of gathering

Statistical Treatment of Data. The following Statistical tools were used to ensure accuracy In depth of the
analysis of the data

Frequency Counts and Percentage. This is used to tally, tabulate and analyze the data related to
respondents’ sex, age, monthly family income

Weighted Mean. This was used to interpret the data on the effects of learning English language.
Chi-square. This was used to interpret the data on finding the significant between the profile of the
respondents and the effects of learning English language.

T-test. This was used to interpret the data on finding the significant difference between the traditional
form of teaching and the use of technology in teaching the lesson.
