Academic Composition
Mid-semester reflection
Your Name: …Albert Erika…….
We are (almost?) halfway in the semester. The aim of this short exercise is to take a step back,
request feedback or assistance, and see if there are any things that should be applauded or altered
before the semester ends.
You can fill-in the present document or create a new one, it should take 20 minutes all in all.
AND avoid self-censorship, please, it is not really constructive😊.
1. What were your goals for this course?
To learn as much as possible, and to get a fuller understanding of citation and how we can
do that easier.
2. What are your goals for university, in general?
To get my degree of course, and to be able to start teaching as soon as possible, because I
would really love to teach. And also my goal here is to learn how to cope with problems and
still enjoy the process, I think this is a key thing to have and to do.
3. What are some of the main things you have learned so far this semester (in general)?
This is just a thought but this: that I will never feel like I’m ready to teach, I just have to do it.
From many of my friends I hear this and my relatives also, that when it feels scary to jump
that’s the moment you have to do it. And also in one class we’re learning how to edit a test
fro students, and that’s interesting as well.
4. What are some of the main things you have learned so far in this class?
How to do a bibliography correctly and how to tell apart different aritcles or books based on
their bibliography, and how zotero works.
5. Is there any reading that you especially enjoyed? Which? Why?
The microbes, the animals and us, it was really interesting all the point of views the text had.
6. If you could use any format and address any audience to talk about what you are learning,
what format, what audience and what content would you choose? (You can definitely
imagine beyond university).
To be honest I have no idea, maybe university as an audience and to show them a reflection
of mine.
7. How do you feel about the writing exercises in our class so far?
I like them, it doesn’t consume so much energy, and the homework is always the
continuation of the work we do in class which makes it easier to follow.
8. How many of the writing assignments have you completed?
All of them.
9. Is there anything still remaining to complete? Do you have an anticipated date of
completion? (If an assignment does not feel productive, we can always come up with
ways of reformulating it in your interest).
No, everything’s fine, thank you!
10. How would you assess the feedback that I am giving you in class or on homework?
It’ clear and understandable of what went wrong and what was good. It is also helpful,
because for the next time I can correct them, and also I don’t have the anxiety when I read
the feedbacks, like as other teachers’.
11. How do you see the purpose of your writing (pick one)
a. For learning
b. For demonstration of learning
c. For general craft
12. How do you feel about your participation during class? Explain.
We always have a conversation about something which is easy to join in, and it is easier to
participate.
13. How do you feel about your classmates’ participation during class? Do you have any
particular comments?
They are nice and make comments always, they have interesting ideas which they can
express easily.
14. Do you ever talk about this class outside class? (Elaborate if possible)
a. Never or rarely
b. Sometimes
c. Frequently
15. Are there things you would like clarified? Elaborated?
No, but if I have I will ask.
16. What do you hope to get out of what is left of the semester?
I think the same as it was in the first half, good conversations in the class about interesting
ideas, and to be able to cite anything.
17. Are there things that you expect to carry with you after the semester ends? What? Why?
The ice-breaker you did with us, 2 truths and a lie, it is a good way to start a semester.
18. Are there things that you would like to do?
No.
19. Are there things you would like me to help with?
No, thank you!
20. If you were going to give yourself a grade right now, what would it be? Why?
I think a 5, because I do everything that is assigned and I participate as much as I can.
Other comments from you😊:
That one thing, that I’m always late for your class, I don’t do this on purpose and I’m so sorry for
this, but I just can’t get up on time, but I’m trying my best.
