It describes 9 distinct roles that individuals can take on in a team, including roles for idea generation (Plant, Monitor Evaluator, Specialist), implementation (Shaper, Implementor, Completer), and people-focused roles (Coordinator, Teamworker, Resource Investigator). Effective teams have a balance of these roles and recognize that individuals may take on multiple roles or transition between roles as needed over time.
