Very interesting question. I’m a homosexual man, so let me give you some, from my
experience:
Advantages:
Generally speaking, people find it easier to get along with people of the same sex
than people of the opposite sex. This can make dating easier.
You don’t have to worry about complicated gender power dynamics in your
relationship.
Since you don’t ever attempt to flirt or come on to a member of the opposite sex,
you never have to worry about being seen as creepy or threatening to the opposite
sex. I find many gay men are seen as gentlemanly and many lesbians as “cool” for
this reason alone.

It will vary for many different people, but for me personally, the ups of being gay are:
I can have a friendship with and get to know my friend’s boyfriend and not have my
friend be jealous, because I’m not attracted to him, but if he’s going to date my
friend, I’d like to know him a bit.

Pros
I understand girls and periods, which may help me in the dating world
Because I’m bi I have 2x the amount of potential partners
Being able to talk about queer things and not offend anyone.
Cons
People giving you shit because they don’t think being LGBT+ is “natural”
Having fewer rights in some places for that reason
The mental health issues that come with it because of not being accepted, etc.

Gay people can, and do, have kids. And guess what? Most of them are straight kids.
Guess where gay people come from? Most of them are born to straight parents.
Being gay is a part of nature, found among a variety of species. Mankind is simply one of
those species. No matter how much anyone demonizes being gay, regardless of whether it is
deemed immoral or illegal, no matter if it is ever rendered totally forbidden; there will always
be people who are gay. Because you cannot deny Nature.

The cons; hate, slurs, having to be a bit better than anyone else doing the same job. Having
to defend my marriage. Having to defend myself against physical violence. Seeing all the
kids thrown out on the street for loving the ‘wrong’ gender. I am not nor is my husband an
abomination. The hate is.

Advantage:
Being able to see or ‘enjoy’ naked bodies of the same sex in locker rooms without
having to be reported or arrested (a little creepy, but it's indeed a unique advantage
for being gay ;)
Not have to conform to the traditional structure of a heterosexual family: dating ->
marriage -> have kids -> work ass off for the family -> retirement… We as gays can
stay on the dating stage in our lifetime and meet more amazing people.
Monagomous relationship is not a must: since as gay people, we won't be able to
reproduce like normal heterosexual couples

What, in your opinion, are the advantages and disadvantages of being a homosexual?
I cannot think of any strong advantages - although I am grateful that being part of a minority
that was illegal, and then merely hated, for much of my early life has taught me a lot about
privilege and empathy for other marginalized groups. I may not have turned out to be such a
passionate advocate for social justice, fairness, and equality if I had not been born into a
severely oppressed minority.
