1. Determine the compound composition of Portland cement if it is manufactured from the raw
materials having the following oxide composition. [Use Bogue's equation]

2. A particular type of Portland cement is found to have the compound composition as follows: Find
the oxide composition of the raw materials

ii. C2S………………20.46% v. (SiO2)………………22%
iii. C3A……………….9.87% vi. Minor Compounds…..6.9
3. Let, you are an Engineer at National Cement factory and want to know the suitability of this
cement to be used on the construction site. What tests would you held to examine the properties
of the cement & check conformity with national standards, explain in details?
4. For a certain structure in sanitary works, it is specified to provide a smooth and moisture resistant
plaster, which gypsum type will you recommend? Why?
5. Discuss the disadvantages of excess and low amount of gypsum in cement production.
