Final Project Proposal Guide
1. Introduction
A countless number of people drive on the highway day and night. Taxi drivers, bus drivers,
truck drivers and people traveling long-distance suffer from lack of sleep. Due to which it
becomes very dangerous to drive when feeling sleepy. The majority of accidents happen due
to the drowsiness of the driver. Drowsiness is a serious problem while driving and can lead
to accidents because it impairs an element of human performance that is essential to safe
driving. This driving force drowsiness detection challenge is created to save you from
injuries. Drowsiness means sleepiness, so it prevents injuries which can be because of
drivers who're feeling drowsy or we are able to say who fell asleep even as driving. So,
we're developing a Drowsiness detection system in order to hit upon whether the man or
woman's eyes are closed or open. And if a man or woman's eyes are closed for some
seconds, the system will alert the man or woman with the aid of using ringing an alert sound.
1.1 Project Title
Driver Drowsiness Detection System
1.2 Project Overview Statement
This project uses Open CV to collect images from a webcam and feed these images to a
deep-learning model. A deep learning model classifies whether a person's eyes are 'open' or
'closed'. So, the following are the steps:
We will take image input from the camera.
Detect the face and eyes in the image.
Create a Region of Interest (ROI), for both the detected face and eyes.
Feed this to our classifier (model), which will categorize whether eyes are open or
closed.
At last, we will calculate the time to check if the person is drowsy or not.

Project Goal:
Automatically estimate driver’s drowsiness and to prevent drivers from falling asleep for a while.
Objectives:
Sr.#
1 The system is to use resources withinside the prevention of injuries to passengers and
business vehicles.
2 The gadget will stumble on the early signs of drowsiness earlier than the driving force has
completely misplaced all attentiveness and warn the driving force that they're not able to
work the automobile safely.
3 It saves the lives of people.
4 It is a tool for enhancing driving force safety focusing on truck drivers, midnight drivers,
humans using lengthy distances alone, or humans affected by sleep deprivation.
5 It encourages the passengers to continue their safe traveling.
6
Project Success criteria:
The project will be successful if meets deadlines, goals, and objectives
The project is completed within the given amount of budget.
The project fulfills all the scope given beforehand.
The results of the project are functional.
The project meets consumer demand.
The project meets corporate social responsibility needs.
Finally, the documentation of the project is such that it will also be helpful in the future.
Assumptions, Risks, and Obstacles:
Assumptions: The following assumptions were made in developing the project plan:
The system will be responsive to all types of vehicles.
Drivers are interested in participating.
Stakeholders of the project are available when a meeting of the project is held.
The System can potentially have hundreds of users. It is unrealistic to provide training for
everyone. Therefore, the system should be designed for ease to use and provide help
instructions.
Risks and Obstacles:
The following risks and Obstacles were believed to possibly limit the development of the project:
Estimates can be inaccurate.
Ambiguous requirements may cause problems.
Recent Work should be reviewed in order to look for what should be improved.
The project must be completed in a decided schedule and cost.
