Learning Outcomes: Sources & Characteristics

Learning outcomes describe what students should know, understand and be able to do after completing a course or program. They are derived from institutional visions and missions, government policies, professional standards, and national development goals to ensure graduates have the necessary competencies. Good learning outcomes are student-centered, aligned across levels, incorporate higher-order thinking skills, are measurable, relevant, and understood by both students and faculty.
