COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The subject covers various contemporary Philippine Art practices, with emphasis on the region where the school is located (CALABARZON). It aims to provide students with an
appreciation of a broad range of styles in the various art disciplines, and to engage them to an integrative approach in studying contemporary arts. Though this subject, students will broaden
and acquire the necessary creative tools (knowledge and skills) that they would need as they pursue their individual career goals and aspirations. Through research, they would learn and
appreciate the distinct characteristics of the Philippine contemporary art, specially those created by artists from their region. By means of various inventive and creative activities like an
educational appreciation tour, a regional dance contest, a short film competition, a self-portrait making contest, etc., the students will be given the chance to showcase their God-given talents
and experience freedom of expression or imaginative thinking ( which would prove to be invaluable as they face the challenges of 21 st century society and culture – a world where those with
creative minds have an edge over those who are incapable of thinking outside the box). The students will also be encouraged to use different technology (e.g., digital applications and programs)
as they create their artworks. They will also be engaging in collaborative activities with their classmates, in order to develop an appreciation for group cooperation and teamwork.
