Introduction.

It is often said that friendship formed on the Internet usually are not as
strong as the ones made in real life and that sometimes this kind of
relations don't have a true connection, because we are forced to think
that on the other side of the screen there is a "catfish", a person who lies
about his true life and that pretends to be someone else. I personally
think that nowadays it is actually easier to find real people in virtual life
instead of the real one because we are more inspired to tell the truth and
to be genuine.

Thesis.

A lot of people have true and important friends met on social networks,
and this happens frequently with younger people. For instance, in 2013
when social media started to spread, people of my age saw the Internet
as a new way to meet new friends: a large number of teenagers used to
create chat groups where you could talk about several arguments such as
music, movies, TV shows, but also more serious arguments like their
feelings or their private stories. In addition to this a bunch of people,
thanks to this chats, created a strong connection that lasts for years. For
instance, when I was thirteen, I joined a chat of girls who used to talk
about one of my favourite singers of that time, and thanks to this group I
met Elisa, the most important person of my life. We have known each
other for seven years, and despite all this time, we are inseparable.

Contrast to the thesis.

In contrast to this, there are a lot of people, mainly adults over the age of
fifty, who are totally against the Internet in general and also with the
idea of meeting new friends with social media. When we use the
Internet, there is always the risk of meeting people who have not good
intentions, who create a virtual life that is totally different compared to
the one that they truly live. Because of that, adults definitely prefer to
meet someone face to face, to fully understand who is in front of them
and to be on the safe side.
Conclusion.

To sum up, I agree with the fact that the Internet has its risks, but I also
believe that if you use it in a responsible way, you will be able to meet
beautiful people and to create a strong friendship like the ones that you
can create in real life
