Academic Achievement Comparison Study

This study compared the academic achievement of experimental and control groups across four measures: written works, performance tasks, final examinations, and final grades. Independent t-tests found: 1) The experimental group performed significantly higher on written works and performance tasks. 2) There was no significant difference between groups on final examinations. 3) The experimental group had a significantly higher final grade overall. The study also validated a PAMANA worksheet for teaching practical research. A one-sample t-test found the worksheet scores were significantly higher than the minimum required, so it was deemed appropriate for use.

Table 9 shows the significant difference between the Academic Achievement of the
experimental and control groups in terms of written works, performance task, final examination
and the respondents’ final grades. Using t-test of two independent samples, the computed t-
value in terms of written work and performance task is absolute value of -0.558 and -4.452,
greater than the significant value of 0.508 and 0.000072, respectively. Based on the data above,
the researchers rejected the null hypothesis, which means that the Academic Achievement in
terms of Written works and Performance task of the experimental group is significantly higher
than control group. Meanwhile, the computed t-value in terms of Final Examination is absolute
value of -0.558, less than the significant value of 0.580. The researcher concludes that there is
no significant difference in Final examination result of Control and Experimental Groups. To sum
up, the computed t-value is absolute value of -5.644, significantly greater than 0.000002. The
researcher concludes that there is a significant difference in the academic performance of
experimental and control group.

Table 10 shows the validation of the PAMANA Worksheet. DepEd’s Minimum Scores to pass is
46. Using One-sample t-test, the computed t-value is 6.467, greater than the significant value of
0.0000021. The researcher concludes that the PAMANA Worksheet can be use as teaching and
learning materials in Practical Research 1.
