Q)Can yu pls explain me monetary and fiscal policy in brief?
Q)What is Forex reserve of India?
Q)Where is the note printing press?
Q)What is NRE Account?
Q)A hypothetical question...which one would yu prefer syndicate bank posting in rural areas or
IOB giving yu posting in metros..a small disclaimer:I had an interview call for IOB....and they
asked me which all banks have yu qualified..

Now i being from jharkhand they asked:

Q)Famous international personality of jharkhand?
Q)Who is speaker of lok shabha..Name?
Q)Who holds the post for Speaker of rajya shabha?
Q)Who is chief minister of jharkhand?

Now the patent question which everybody can expect

Q)Why yu want to shift to banks after working in IT?
Q)Would yu be able to work in rural areas?

So guys they can ask yu anything but be prepared with basics at least..

My Interview was for abt 25 mins..i answered 90-95% of the questions Except a very Few as i
was not aware of them and did not wanted to make any wild guess

( i said i dnt know but i can tell you what is virus )
then she asked how to control it?

Be the best in your interview,

the biggest reason most aspirants fail is due to stress they carry.
and never be able to perform to ther maximum.
small useful tips for all aspirants,
before an interview make sure:
1. a few days before the interview, prepare urself properly. read all the material about the
bank and ur subject
2. a few days before start meditation to battle stress
3. at least 3 days before the interview, stop eating heavy, fatty and greasy food.
concentrate on having high protein and lot of water.
4. dont drink alcohol the night before the interview
5. try to take a proper 8hrs sleep.
if you are very apprehensive and not geting sleep.
wake up, have a class of milk, write down your wories on a piece of paper.
take 10 deep breaths..and then go to sleep
6. in the morning, before leaving for the interview make sure everything is checked up.
ur documents, ur letter, wallet, mobile phone,
7. try reaching the interview place at least 30min before time. this gives you scope to relax.
8. once u reach the venue relax. take some deep breaths.
if u a smoker.. make sure u carrying a lot of mint, to avoid bad breath
if u not a smoker.. .avoid smoking or standing next to a smoker as it can lead to bad odour
from you.
9. before the interview, say a little prayer.. as this will calm ur mind.
also imagine how u gonna behave from the moment u enter.
10. as u enter the room, make sure u have eye to eye contact with those sitting, and maintain
a smile on ur face.
greet everyone.
11. most important.. never create an image in your mind that this is the only option.
remember you can always succeed.

I would like to share my Syndicate bank clerical interview with u all.
Syndicate bank didn't conduct any test for the post of clerk they simply asked for 10,12 and
graduation percentages. My application got selected for the interview which was scheduled on
12 Oct'09.
As i entered the interview room i saw 3 people sitting there to take the interview.
Q1 How you came to Bhopal by bus or train?and how was road and journey?
I replied- by bus and journey was gud.
Q2 What r u doing now?
I replied-Pursuing MBA final sem left.
Q3 How intangible assets are entered in balance sheet?
Q4 How a project is appraised?
Q5. What is diminishing marginal utility?
Q6. What u want to join bank?
Q7. How net profit is entered in Balance sheet?
[Link] did a summer project on banking what was it about and what inference did u draw
from it?
2 ,3 more questions were asked regarding academics.
I answered all the above answers correctly as i hav already studied them in MBA(finance).
Some HR questions:-
Q:- Won't u feel bad(being a clerk) to work under someone who is not as qualified as you?
Q:- We believe you must fill PO's and not clerical [Link] u have to say about it?
Finally last sentence which they told me before i left the room that- " You are overqualified for
the post.

The results are out and i m not selected . But yaar still i feel where i made the mistake?

me:: explained them properly as i had prepared well for this!!!

int .. 3: u have been in s/w for yrs how we would be benifited by recruiting u? ( as
expected!!!!)
me:explained them ( Guys don try to say anything technical..like my server knowledge or db
admin will help the bank.. they simply put a bomb saying that its enough if u know to switch
on/off a comp ... it had happened to my friend!!!)
int ..4 : r u willing to reallocate anywhere ???
me: yes mam.. i don't have any issues
int.. 4: it can be even a rural area
me: i am willing to move mam..
int..4: ok.. thanks for the time...
me: thanked them and came out...

Guys i had prepared a lot of banking related questions .. around 3 complete notes!!!! but not
even a single banking related question from them..I am afraid how they r going to make the
final list..

Overall it was an nice and a relaxed interview!!! now its gonna be a long wait for me!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday i went for PNB Management Trainee 2008 final Interview.. and to my surprise it was
a real disaster..

THere were 3 people in the panel including one lady.. That lady would ask me the question
and would answer it herself.. and get frustrated...

She asked me Why do you wnat to come to BAnking when u r a software engineer.
How would ur skills help the bank .

If i ask u to open a branch in Lucknow, How would u go about it.

Finally she got angry at me also asking me to convine her y i am the right candidate.....
I gave her plethora of reasons but she would not get convinced..

Finally they asked me to go

and my PNB MT safar supposedly came to end at the last lap..

appeared for my iob interview on 24th in [Link] reporting time was 10am and after
gttng all our documents checked we were tol 2 report on the next floor for the [Link]
turn came after 40 minutes r [Link] were 3 pple, 2 males and 1 [Link] of the
questions asked were
what is w.t.o and what are its functions?
where was recent [Link] meet held and what was its outcome?
what is basel accord?
if all the banks follow basel then when did the banks in u.s.a failed while in india they didn't?
to this question i mentioned subprime crisis on which the panel member said subprime has
only 8% role to play in it.i then explained a theory i read in an article by the famous
economist swaminathan aiyer on how"black money acts as a buffer for the indian banks to
which they were all pretty [Link] other questions followed about my family
background and [Link] they asked about my 7 months work ex. in reinsurance and
questions asked were
what is reinsurance and why is it done?
is reisurance required in only some cases?
in the end i thanked them for being helpful cause it was my first ever int and i was pretty
[Link] said dn't wrry u did [Link] in all the interview lastd for around 15 minutes and it
was a good experience for me.

fi: hw wud engg help u in banking..

fI: frm we do banks get money??

fi: now what questions shud i ask u..u tell me..

den a male interviewer comes all f a sudden frm somewer...

and he starts grilling me..

den all f a sudden the second male interviewer wkes up frm his sleep and asks y dont i

i just appeared for the final selection interview in oriental insurance company for the post
of administrative officer and wanted to share my experience with [Link] was my first ever
interview so i was a bit [Link] reporting time was 2pm at the jeevan bharti building
in c.p.i reported at 1pm and was directed to report to the recruitment room for getting all
my marksheets [Link] took about 30 minutes for the entire process and then i was
told to wait untill my name was [Link] had a group of 15 people all nervous looking.i
too was busy cramming all the data about the company and devouring on all the new
happennings in the financial [Link] after 2 hours my turn finally came and i entered
the interview room in front of 3 men, 1 was about 60 and the 2nd 1 was a 200 pounder
and was voraciosly eating samosas from the plate in front of [Link] third 1 was subdued
[Link] asked me about my name which is abhimanyu and asked me about the
historical imp of this [Link] the old looking man bombarded me with a barrage of
questions from the insurance like, types of treaties,what is the diff between general and
life insurance and does lic deals in health [Link] tried to confuse me between life
and non-life insu by putting up varous facts from health policies, terminal illness claims
and accident [Link] asked me that even these are related to life and claims can be
paid on death so how are they diff from life claims.i answered as well as i could but the
shocker came from the third [Link] gave me a square divided in 5 coloumns and 5
rows and asked me to calculate all the squares in it.i tried hard but wasn't able to
calculate all of [Link] was all what i had to go through , i wonder if there was a trick
in that last question cause its very time taking and difficult to calculate all the squares in
that figure.

got a call to appear in the interview on 3rd March 2009 at 11 AM. When I reached the centre I
saw that the batch who were supposed to report at 9 am had just started with their
interviews. There was just a single panel. Each batch had 24 students. My turn was 23 in the
2nd Batch . Interviews were mostly for the duration of 12-20 minutes. All the candidates
were graduates and just 2-3 had previous work ex. Some of the questions asked were
1. Which is the oldest bank, biggest bank?
2. How many atm,branches does OBC Bank have?
3. Questions on the 3rd Quarter performance of the bank.
4. Banking Rates ( CRR,SLR, Repo Rate, Reverse Repo etc)
5. Inflation, Recession, GDP etc.
6. Questions about your native place.
7. Why do u want to join our bank?
8. Indian Economy, World Economy

Mostly all the questions were based on the above topics. Now let me tell u abt my
experince..My turn came at 6.15 PM. as i was the 47th candidate of the day. Went in. There
were 5 people total in the panel.
Only 3 of them seating in the centre asked me questions. I am pursuing my MBA
( International business and marketing)(4th Semester). So all the questions were based on
International Business and Forex Banking)

Questions asked were as follows

1. What is trade deficit?

2. What is India's forex reserve?
3. What is SEZ?
4. Why companies setup Sez?
5. What are SMEs?
6. How can we increase the foreign reserve of the country?
7. What is balance sheet of the company?
8. Functions of a bank?
9. IRDP Scheme
10. Rupee closing value yesterday/GBP closing value/ Euro closing value?
11. Why I want join a bank after doing a MBA?
12. Land required to setup a SEZ ?

Hope it will help those puys who got interview calls.

Overall it was ok-ok interview. No questions asked that were generally asked to the other
candidates. Total 20 minutes duration. Waiting for the results still. Hope I get in.

apply tht moral to real life?...............

My family details..........My fathers occupation............mother.........brother...... .....his

details........

About campus selections in my college............why they r not conducted(i said due to

economic crisis and IT downfall)............

Later Lady in the panel asked about my Inspiring personality............(i said swami
vivekananda.........she asked me to tell any one of his quotations...........i hav said
one)...........

She asked me who created interest in u to try for banking sector?.........( i hav said tht its my
own decision......and so on.........)

Finally they said.............all d best............

Thats it............

Its very cool nd friendly environment................

Hey frnds I wanna share my interview experience of sbi which I had given last year on 3oth
may in [Link]'s written was on 1st march,2009,however I didnot clear dis time,,last tym sbi
declared its written result just after one month.
There were three interviewer out of which one was lady
-First of all they asked me to tell abt myself,well it was common question
So prepare good introduction,dont describe urself just in 3-4 lines,u have 2 tell abt ur edu.
background,hobbies,family background,interests etc,,,
Don't b fake as I told them that I use to write poem then one of them asked me to sing one of
them,SO just tell them what actually u r n wat actually ur interest n hobbies
-secondly After my introduction they asked que related to my edu background
As m Bsc comp sc. graduate they asked me sm comp related question and then sm H.R n
Mktng questions as these were my MBA subjects...
-thirdly d very common question they were asking ,,,,
Why do u want to join bank job?
and also they asked many question giving different situation related to bank
As What will u do if your duty time is over n ur senior or other person give you his/her work to
do
Will u do dat more work which is out of ur duty n duty time?
Whatever u reply "yes" or "No" just say vd strong n valid reason,,,
actually na ur introduction should b solid bcoz if u have lot to tell abt urself then they will get
busy in asking question just related u which is much easier to reply than their ulte-pulte
confusing questions
Aur haan dont wry dey never ask abt sbi history or abt thier branches,,,,just b cool
n dont b fake,,,watever u feel aur think just reply d same,,,,
well m giving u tips bt n telling u one secret just dont tell anyone I had just failed in dat
interview,,,,hehehe apart from joke actually m gud,,,no not gud m gr8 observer n watever I
observe is that its up to u dat in which direction u want to take interviewer,

2. What is carpet area and built-up area?
3. So many malls are there in cities, but footfalls have fallen. Your views on that?
4. What is NPA?
5. Who is the father of Retail in India?
6. Who is the vice-president of india?

Apart from that there were many open ended question about work experience, family and
academics background.

One advice to all : Double check your bio-data form that you have to submit at the time of
interview. Check that there are no spelling mistakes. They are quick to spot that.

why do you want to join bank when you have done [Link] and if you people join banks what

tell me what all you know about banking
what is bplr
--->>>how does rbi tighten it's monetary stance when we have so much of unutilised funds
and due to lack of credit demand.
your weakness and strength
will you give loans to new semicondictor industry(didn't understand the question)

The panel were cordial and were but were mounting the pressure on me from the word go,
don't know if they have any policy of not taking [Link] grads If some one could explain the
answer for --->>> marked question it would be helpful
BOI EXP-

my interview was on 26th...it was jus okk.....as i was an BE(ECE)...they asked me why i
wanted to leave that field and come to banking sector.....they asked me if i would go abroad
and continue my studies if they had granted me a loan.....i told that i preferred bank job as it
is stable..
they asked me questions on 1)monetary policy...
2)about the effect of crr on inflation
3)the difference b\w plr and bank rate
4)asked me why the other rates such as bank rate were not increased...and the effect of bank
rate in controlling money flow
5)they asked me about hobbies...and other interests...
6)i was totally grilled on the issue of me shifting my area from engg to banking sector...
7)they also asked me why i wanted to go to banking sector...( i answered that IT field was
very unstable)...then they asked me why i was not taking a risk.....as it would give good
results in the future...
this is they asked me....the interview was held for 15-20 min...the panel was very
friendly....but surely ..they will try to corner you...if u r an engg candidate...i can say this
coz...same happned to others

fortune at d bottom of d pyramid. as a result dey askd me abt d buk nd i told dem d whole
story abt d buk. dey askd me abt ck prahlad. den dey askd me abt my family, why banking nd
abt my gap yr. in why banking questns i aswd dat i have an interest in financial sector as even
after getting abv 90% marks in 10th i chose commerce. i told dem dat after doing cost benefit
analysis of d job i find only benefits nd no cost. den he askd just 1 questns frm commerce. d
other guy in d panel askd me abt SHGs, developing country and developed country. he wantd
2 ask more bt others said kitna puchoge. and finally dey askd me 2 go nd said well done

Q6: Asked me about banking, types of banking

A: Ratta hua tha......saara ugal diya

Q7: Name some intl credit rating agency

A: Told

Q7: Asked abut international business environment

A: Told, bolte bolte ben bernanke pe aa gaya.(big mistake, never show off ur knowledge, they
will always have the last laugh)

Q8: What is TARP

A: I was blank. I asked him to elaborate, thn i might answer. He told me, thn shifted to
another panel

Q9: U talked about financial inclusion, how will it be achieved?

A: Told

Next Panel:
Q10: Asked abut what is RTE
Initially i was blank, thn he told me its an act. So elaborate on to that that is on right to
education

Thn i was asked to leave.

Overall had the best interview of my life. I m 99% sure of making it, keeping 1% aside for my
bad kismat.

Gd waz really good!! it waz fun...the 1st topic waz the role of supervisor ..8 points were
given..
2nd round waz case study..it waz abt a hospital..it waz very easy...
Overall gd waz good..no need to worry at all...

it was rather a short interview....around 10-12 mins....they kept us awaired too long....time
was 11 am as per the call letter but took it at 4 pm....pehle hi dimaag ki dahi ban chuki thi
wait karte karte...

small savings from people and invest it in some productive activities....financially poor people
are benefitted by this..

( My interview experience in Oriental Bank of Commerce Bank for PO held 21-12-08

My attempts in the written exam were

Quant - 48/50
English - 49/50
Reasoning - 57/75
Gk - 27/50.

I got a call to appear in the interview on 3rd March 2009 at 11 AM. When I reached the centre
I saw that the batch who were supposed to report at 9 am had just started with their
interviews. There was just a single panel. Each batch had 24 students. My turn was 23 in the
2nd Batch. Interviews were mostly for the duration of 12-20 minutes. All the candidates were
graduates and just 2-3 had previous work ex. Some of the questions asked were
1. Which is the oldest bank, biggest bank?
2. How many atm,branches does OBC Bank have?
3. Questions on the 3rd Quarter performance of the bank.
4. Banking Rates ( CRR,SLR, Repo Rate, Reverse Repo etc)
5. Inflation, Recession, GDP etc.
6. Questions about your native place.
7. Why do u want to join our bank?
8. Indian Economy, World Economy

Mostly all the questions were based on the above topics. Now let me tell u abt my
experince..My turn came at 6.15 PM. as i was the 47th candidate of the day. Went in. There
were 5 people total in the panel.
Only 3 of them seating in the centre asked me questions. I am pursuing my MBA
( International business and marketing)(4th Semester). So all the questions were based on
International Business and Forex Banking)

Questions asked were as follows

1. What is trade deficit?

2. What is India's forex reserve?
3. What is SEZ?
4. Why companies setup Sez?
5. What are SMEs?
6. How can we increase the foreign reserve of the country?
7. What is balance sheet of the company?
8. Functions of a bank?
9. IRDP Scheme
10. Rupee closing value yesterday/GBP closing value/ Euro closing value?
11. Why I want join a bank after doing a MBA?
12. Land required to setup a SEZ ?

gd/pi topic.....can indian economy overtake chinese economy in next 10 yrs??
most of the candidates said....no...only 2 or 3 said yes...i ws one of them...
my points were....evn if china is far ahead of india...in development..n has a larger population
thn india...but...most of chinese population is in older age group..as compared to india..whose
maxm. population is in younger age group...young ppl can contribute more to their nation's
developmnt...as they are more energetic n willing to work...

GD Topic : Who is best the best prime minister in India.

There was panel of 4 people.
First of all they gave us 5 min to think upon the topic after that we started..But it was kind of
extempore only .... every one got chance to speak..and any one can speak any time but only
for once.... But in our batch there was no open discussion ..but finally they said to conclude in
one min whatever we said...
I supported Indira Gandhi...
My points :
1. Nationalization of banks
2. Vision of financial inclusion
3. Provided support to unorganized sector , rural sector , agriculture sector and people below
poverty line through nationalization of banks.
4. Nuclear Test
5. Blue Star operation.
6. 1971 war with Pakistan.
and finally conclusion.

PI:
In interview they asked in question on whatever I told in GD...like abt
-financial inclusion ,
- how it is going to help poor ,
-how can bank provides services to remote areas ,
- what is Khalsa...
-do u know meaning of khalsa. ,
-how khalistan problem was originated
-how can u justified Blue Star operation.

after that they came to my Bio Data..

I won first prize in state level Tech Fest "Encarta" in Future Vision event...
so next round of question on that..
-U won first prize in future vision what is that..
-what was ur model...I presented a model to solve parking problem...
-will there be any further improvement....
-Okay there will another crisis what it could be..
I said recession then they told me it is going on other than that ...
this time I told abt environment , global warming ...
- So he asked what could be solution
In response of that I talked abt KYOTO Protocol ...and it's a responsibility of developed nation
to develop such technology and give help to developing nation to implement them...they hav
done thier part hw could they prevent us to be a developed nation....
