1.0 PURPOSE
1.1 To lay down a procedure for safe loading / unloading of chemical to / from the
road tanker.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure shall be applicable for loading / unloading of the road tanker at
solvent storage area.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Assistant / Executive – Initiating Department
3.2 Assistant / Executive – Environment, Health and Safety
3.3 Assistant Security officer – Security
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 Head of the department – Initiating Department
4.2 Head of the department – Environment, Health and Safety
4.3 Head of the department – Security
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Annexure – I contains three parts, Part – A, Part – B and Part – C that are to be
filled as given below:
5.1.1 Part – A shall be filled by the security personnel at the time of permitting
the tanker inside the premises.
5.1.2 Part – B & C shall be filled by the Initiating department at the time of
unloading / loading of material from / to road tanker.
5.2 On receipt of the road tanker at the plant premises, the main gate security shall
check the points as mentioned in Part – A of Annexure-I and fill after complying
the requirements and ensure that the tanker has no leakages.

5.3 The security personnel shall allow the tanker to the loading / unloading area and
direct the driver to approach the Initiating department and park the vehicle at the
designated bay.
5.4 No person(s) other than driver and cleaner of the tanker shall be allowed with the
tanker.
5.5 The Initiating department shall receive the permit from the driver and fulfill the
conditions as mentioned in the part-B and inform to the safety department.
5.6 After receiving the information from the Initiating department, the Safety
Assistant / Executive shall cross check the points listed in the Annexure-I and
give clearance for carrying out loading / unloading of the chemical road tanker.
5.7 At the time of loading / unloading of the chemical road tanker, the Initiating
department shall be available with the driver & cleaner for handling any
emergencies.
5.8 After ensuring the complete loading / unloading of the tanker, detach all the
fixtures and the Initiating department shall fill in Part – C and direct the tanker to
move from the position.
5.9 The permit shall be returned to the safety security department.
