Tell me about yourself?

I have been in railway career for 9 years, I started as an outsourced employee for Etihad Rail as an IT
technical support engineer, then I moved to systems department as a signalling technician, and
currently I am working as an OCC facilities controller for Etihad Rail Infrastructure.

I am specialized in SCADA, SAP maintenance management information system, signalling system

ERTMS/ETCS level 2, and Freight Control Systems. I am responsible of supervising, monitoring, and
controlling of MV/LV power network, I provide technical support to the OCC and liaise with maintenance
teams to attend safety related and service affecting failures, possession management in terms of
applying and removing protections, and TSR (Temporary Speed Restriction) to allow safe passage of
trains. I supervise and control access to line side shelters and substations. I perform shifts and
emergency duties as and when required.

During my time in the company, I participated in resolving complex faults and failures, testing new
systems, I supported in the training and development of new staff and students of Abu Dhabi Vocational
Education and Training Institute under rail diploma program.

My strength is my attitude towards learning I am a fast leaner, my ability to fit within the organization
and team, and possession of high computer skills.

I was deemed as key team member, proactive, and reliable person as per the recent appraisal done by
my line manager since I was actively and proactively involved in preparation for stage two system of
UAE rail project to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable train operations.

What I am looking for is a company that I could add value to, where I could join a strong team, and that I
could share and learn from other’s experience. Is this what SAR company is looking for?

Why are you interested in working for our company?

I want to work here because having carried out lots of research, you have a great track of record of
achievement, being successful in my work is important to me, and your company mission statements
are in line with my values, I also want to work in an environment that is positive, progressive, and
productive, and I believe I will get that working for your company.

Describe a time when you had to work with a difficult co-worker.

I was in a situation that a co-worker raised a concern about a new sub-system developed by our
contractor, the system is responsible of alerting us about weather changes and forecast, my colleague
concern was that system alarms are not integrated with SCADA, and as a result unnecessarily additional
workload will be increased. I have been tasked by the OCC senior manager to find out what is alerting
mechanism of this new sub-system. I have reviewed the system training document and found that the
system does send the alarms to SCADA main alarm banner, when I told my colleague about it, he
became defensive and said he reviewed the document as well and it doesn’t say so, I realized that he
might missed or skipped something, so I opened the document and showed him that the alarms are
being sent to the ICSS alarm banner, when I asked him do you don know what’s the alarm banner is, he
said no, then we walked down the room and showed him in a live system where is the alarm banner is
and it’s part of SCADA, he seemed convinced and satisfied, and subject closed.
Tell me about a time when you had to adapt to a situation quickly.
There was a time that when our IT department has developed a new software to manage the permit to
work procedure, and we were instructed to stop using the conventional way and start using the new
software, I find that when there’s a major change in the workplace it’s best to take that learning curve
on as a positive challenge, then I took an online workshop to master the software, and I encouraged my
co-workers to do the same course and it was beneficial for them as well.

Finally, evolution is a part of workplace today and I recognize that my role as an employee is to embrace
it and encourage others to accept it and be ready to learn new ways of doing things continually.

brilliant things when they support each other, when they are respectful of everyone’s opinions and

positive role model when representing your company, and if you hire me, I will be committed to the
business for many years to come.
