client brief. In this project, your students will use Adobe Illustrator to create a set of infographics and
charts for a games company.
This project is for teachers starting their digital media journey, as well as those looking to move their
students towards accreditation with Adobe Certified Professional.
In this project, students will:

Data Visualization
In this project, you’ll learn essential design skills by taking on the role of a creative responding to a
client brief. You’ll use Adobe Illustrator to create a set of infographics and charts for a video games
company.
After completing this project, you will be able to:
1. Create a range of infographics and visual data charts in Adobe Illustrator.
2. Explore, design and communicate a creative response to a client brief.
3. Use key principles of animation to promote effectively.
4. Respond to feedback, explain your design choices, and evaluate your work.
How to Get Started
Below, you’ll see a rundown of the key steps in this project. More comprehensive instructions can be
found in the Project Delivery Deck.
1. Empathize. Meet your client and investigate their needs. Use the Client Pack to explore the brief
in detail and complete the Client Brief worksheet to practice communicating with them.
2. Define/Plan. Complete research on data stories across different websites. Brainstorm ideas to
select sets of statistics to work on, then begin creating your Project Plan.
3. Ideate. Prepare data files and experiment with different graph types. Create and style graphs
and infographics in Adobe Illustrator.
4. Prototype. Create sets of data graphics and visualizations from your own spreadsheet data.
Prepare and add these to presentation slides.
5. Test. Gather feedback and make notes about necessary changes, then go back to step #4
(Prototype) and implement them. Repeat as necessary before exporting graphics for the final
presentation.
6. Evaluate. Use the Project Rubric to grade your work, or form a group with other creators and use
the Round Robin Review worksheet to peer-evaluate each other’s projects.
