The Visa Officer

Embassy of Canada in Manila
Level 6-8, Tower 2 RCBC Plaza

Makati City

Dear Consular Officer,

Greetings!

My name is -----------, 23 years old, single and a law-abiding Filipino citizen. I am writing this
letter to express my sincerest interest in applying for a student permit. I have been accepted to
the Information Technology Architect Program offered by the Louis Riel School Division Arts
and Technology Centre for February 2023 intake with DIL no. O19708693987. The duration of
my program is from February 6, 2023, to February 2, 2024.

Background
In May 28, 2022, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Manual
Enverga University Foundation Inc. in Lucena City. I was able to march and received my
diploma on July 26, 2022. Since 2019, I have been a member of Alpha Phi Omega. Alpha Phi
Omega, or APO, is a non-profit organization that develops leadership, friendship, and service. It
helps student body and faculty and the community. I became secretary of the Quezon chapter in
2019-2020, auxiliary chancellor in 2020-2021, and grand chancellor in 2021-2022. Between
May this year until July, I spent my time sending out job applications. For the position I most
wanted, mainly in information technology technician – an entry level job in the world of
information system, I was turned down due to inexperience. It was my sister who encouraged
me to pursue additional education in Canada.

Purpose of Study
My main objective of studying is to boost my credentials. I am seeking to acquire practical
experience in information systems, refine my knowledge of information systems, and improve
my computer and programming skills. In order to survive the ever-changing modern workplace, I
intend to gain a comprehensive set of competencies that will complement my existing abilities
gained from my recently completed program (Computer Engineering) which is more focused in
software development. With international education and experience, I am confident that I will
have an edge in the job market.

Why Canada
I have chosen Canada because of its globally recognized quality of education system. Studying
in Canada would enable me to become a globally competitive and educated individual. The
quality of life in Canada is regarded as one of the finest in the world. My favorite thing about
Canada is how it embraces its multicultural citizens. My goal is to learn about the diversity of
cultures and experience cultures other than my own.

Why Louis Riel School Division Arts and Technology Centre

Information Systems Architect course at Louis Riel School Division Arts and Technology Centre
appealed to me because it offers essential training in the field of information systems. I will have
mastery of web security, information architecture, and network administration. These are the
skills I need to develop in my career to become an excellent IT professional. This university
utilizes the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum to help prepare students for exciting careers
in Information Technology. This curriculum provides students with access to expert, educational
IT content and to a rich learning experience through online media. They are partnering with
CompTIA and Microsoft's Academic Alliance to ensure that we, the students are kept up to date
with the latest in technology. Furthermore, the students participate in the International
CyberPatriot games and the Canadian Cyber Defense Challenge, which are very beneficial in
today's technology market.

Financial Plans
My siblings would be the main sponsors of my international study. My parents were already
retired; therefore, my siblings are the ones who have taken care of paying for my studies since I
started Senior High School and until I graduated in college. They are also the ones who
encouraged me to pursue further study abroad. They are confident that my credentials would
best fit in any job that I would apply for if I had an international diploma. My aunt and her
husband from Winnipeg, Manitoba are generously offering their home for free until I finish my
one-year course. I would also take advantage of the 20 hours of work per week allowed for
international students without compromising my studies. During my studies, I will find a job to
support my personal needs. In this way, I will not have to rely too much on my brothers for my
personal items.

Home Ties
I am the youngest of six siblings. My eldest brother and sister are both married and living with
their own family. My two older brothers are both permanent residents and are working in New
Zealand. My other sister is a freelance accountant. My father and mother are now in their senior
years, 63 and 61 respectively, and they are enjoying their retirement. We have a small backyard
garden wherein they spend most of their time planting vegetables and raising chickens. They
also help me take care of our dogs and cat. We have three dogs: Mikmik, a five-year-old Aspin,
Dos, our three-year-old Pitbull, Maria, and a two-year-old Shiz Tzu. We also have a cat named
Mingming. Since all my siblings are no longer living with my parents, I am the one living and
taking care of our parents and our pets. I have a long-time girlfriend. We have been together for
more than three years now.

Travel History
I have not been out of the Philippines to travel but I was able to go to our nearby provinces due
to my volunteering works in our non-profit organization APO.

Plans After Study and After Completing the Program

After I finish my program, I will return to the Philippines full of knowledge and experience. My
international credentials will enable me to pursue a prosperous career. I am aiming to land a job
as an Information technology technician. And after gaining enough experience, I would like to
pursue being a network security engineer with an average salary of Php608,000.000 to
Php1,070,000 as per professional and recruitment sites in the Philippines.
Upon completion of my studies, I would like to return to the Philippines. It would be nice to be
reunited with my parents, girlfriend, relatives, and pets. It is often the youngest child who is left
to care for their elderly parents in an Asian household. My intention is to do this not because it is
the custom in our country, but because I love them and would like to take care of them.

Declaration
I understand the responsibilities of an international student in Canada and promise to be a law-
abiding resident as I always do in our home country. I will respect the rules and regulations set
by the Immigrations, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and will leave Canada and return to my
home country after the authorized stay. I have attached the supporting documents needed to
aid my study permit application.

Thank you for your time and I hope I have clearly stated my intentions and appreciate that my
student visa application will be favorably considered. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to reach out.

With best regards,
