1, Updating ‘date’ & ‘time’ of Computer : double click on ‘Clock’ located
on bottom-right corner of Monitor.
2. Customize ‘Date Style and ‘Currency’: Control Panel > Region and
Language Options >.. ]

3. Customize ‘View, Schedule” and ‘Calendar’ of MS Project 2003: Open
MS Project > Tools > Options > View > write Currency Symbol ‘Tk.’;
Schedule > replace Assignment Unit ‘Percentage’ with ‘Decimal’, replace
Work in ‘Hours’ with ‘Days’, replace Default task type ‘Fixed Unit’ with
‘Fixed Duration’ and clear ‘tick-mark’ from bottom -‘six boxes’ > Set as
Default, Calendar > Select Week starts on ‘Saturday’, write Hours per
week ‘56’ and Days per month ‘30’> Set as default >Ok. Close MS Project-
2003 [warning: Don’t make any change in Fiscal year options]-
Part-C
. Open MS Project 2003
. From ‘View’ menu Check ‘Standard’ and ‘Formatting’ Toolbars are
active (with tick mark)
. Activate ‘View Bar’: [ View > View Bar ]
|. Change ‘Working Time’: [ Tools > Change Working Time> Select all
week Days > Non-default Working Times > Ok ]
Give ‘Project Start Date’: [ Project > Project Information > Set ‘Date’
from Calendar in Start Date option}
. Draw ‘Grid lines’: [ Format/ click right button > Gridlines > Gantt Rows
(horizontal line) > select from ‘Type’; Bottom Tier Columns (vertical line) >
Select from ‘Type’; Project Start line & color > select from ‘Type’ &
‘Color’; Project Finish line & color > select from ‘Type’ & ‘Color’ ][Link] ‘Tasks/Activities’ in ‘Task Name’ column, enter ‘duration’ in
‘Duration’ column
[Link] ‘Bars’: write appropriate ‘Predecessors’ in ‘Predecessors’ column
[Link] applicable Split ‘Bar’: Click on ‘split task> put the ‘pointer’ on the
Bar > Click on ‘desired date’.
[Link] ‘Split task’: Put the ‘pointer’ on the ‘right part of the bar’ and drag
to original position
[Link] Grid line Scale: Click on ‘Zoom in’/ ‘Zoom out’ (Warning: Don’t
Zoom to hours or below)

Layout > give ‘tick’ on ‘Allow manual box positioning > Ok and then
putting ‘pointer’ on the border of the box and drag the box to a desired
position (Warning: Don’t put ‘pointer’ inside box)
[Link] to Gantt Chart: [ Click ‘Gantt Chart’ on ‘View Bar’ ]
[Link] New Tasks: Select a Row > Insert > New Tasks > Write ‘Name of
Task’, give duration, re-link tasks (Warning: don’t miss to provide
appropriate ‘link’ with new tasks)23 Insert Column: Select a Column on Task Field > Insert > Column > Select
an appropriate Column from ‘Field Name’ (click drop down arrow and
select a desired ‘column name’)
24. Assign ‘Cost’: Insert Column> Select ‘Cost’ from ‘Field Name’ (click drop
down arrow and select ‘Cost’) > Ok > write ‘cost’ in ‘Cost column’
[Link] Resources: View > Resource Sheet > Create Resource List > back to
Gantt chart (click ‘Gantt chart’ on View bar) > Select ‘Task/Activity’> Click
on ‘double head’ (assign resources) or Alt+F10 > select Resource > Assign

[Link] Cash flow: Report > Reports>Custom>Select > Cash flow > Edit >
Ok > Preview
[Link] ‘Resource Use’ Sheet: Report > Reports>Custom>Select >
Resource usage > Edit > Ok > Preview

[Link] Progress: Insert > Column > Select ‘% Complete’ ftom ‘Field
