Weighting : Marks obtained in this assignment will carry a 50% weighting
in the assessment of your overall performance in this module.
INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:
1. The maximum word limit is 5,000 words. Final marks obtained will be reduced by 10%
if this word limit is exceeded.
2. The written assignments should be with 1.5 spacing using Times New Roman font size
12 with 1” margin all around.
3. The report should include a light green cover page as shown in Appendix I.
4. A copy of the marking scheme (Appendix II or Appendix III) must be attached
immediately after the cover page of the report.
5. All pages in the written report should be numbered except for the cover page, marking
scheme and the table of contents.
6. All references used should be as recent as possible.

7. All references must be in APA format with the following details:
The name of the journal or magazine
The title
The name(s) of the author(s)
The date of publication
The volume number, issue number (if any), and page number
8. Marks will be deducted for failure in complying with the instructions provided above.
Binding Instructions:
The assignment should be bound using tape binding (do not use comb binding) with
two punch holes on the left hand side of the assignment for easy filing. Please do not
use plastic cover sheets when binding your assignments.
The deadline for submission of assignments is WEEK 13 of class in the semester.
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT (50%)
a) Group Assignment 30%
1. Each tutorial class will form groups consisting of four (4) to five (5) students each. Please
note that group allocations are to be agreed by the tutor in the first tutorial class. The
students are to register their selected company/topics with their respective tutors by the
end of Week 2. If there is a situation where two or more groups selected the same
company/topic, the decision will be based on a first come first serve basis. Overall, the
written group assignment should reflect the group’s thoughts and analysis rather than the
work of others
(a) Begin with reading the Business Ethics materials which the lecturer identified to
the students.
(b) Business Ethics issues are currently actively discussed by the Malaysian Public
and the mass media.
(c) Select a company (preferably a large company with international business) and
attempt all the questions below based on the company your group have selected:
(i) Identify THREE (3) business ethical issues in which the selected company
faces.
(ii) Examine and analyses these three (3) businesses ethics issues and write a
report thereon.
(iii) In your analysis of the business ethical issues, you are to discuss three (3)
examples of good ethical behavior that would be expected from the industry
in which the selected company operates in.
(iv) This business ethical issues can be from any areas of business; for example,
agriculture; manufacturing; education; advertising; smart phones, etc.

It is the responsibility of the group leader to register their selected topic with their tutor
during the first week, on a first come first served basis. The group members MUST come
from the same tutorial group. The written assignment should be between 2000 – 2500 words
excluding appendices, tables, charts, diagrams and references. Use Times New Roman, font
size 12 with 1.5 spacing; with justified alignment; with single page printing and tape binding
with two punched holes on the left-hand side of the assignment for easy filing. The report
should include a cover sheet as shown in Appendix I. All pages in the written report should
be numbered except for the cover page and the Table of Contents. Please refrain from using
plastic cover sheets when binding your assignment.
A copy of the Marking Scheme (Appendix II) must be attached after the cover page of the
report. The acceptability of the articles and sources of references will be judged based on its
relevancy and credibility. All cited references should be written at the end of the report.
2. Due date: Week 13, Monday to be submitted to the respective tutors.

b) Group Presentation (20%)
Students are required to do the presentation on their group assignment on the tutorial class at
Week 12 and Week 13 of the Semester. The presentation should not be more than 30
minutes per group.
The oral presentation will be assessed based on the following criteria:

Format: Appropriate visual aids should be used for the presentation. Students are
required to submit a hardcopy of the presentation slides together with the evaluation form
(Appendix IV) in class, right before the presentation is done.
Attire: Students are expected to dress professionally for the presentation.
Time Limit: 20 - 30 minutes excluding Q&A and class discussion.
Presentation Date: Please refer to the attached Teaching Plan for the presentation
schedule.
Assessment Criteria: See Appendix III.
Late Submission Penalty Clause:
Deadline for submission of assessment item(s) is to be strictly adhered to. No extension of
time will be allowed except in extenuating circumstances, e.g. medical reasons. Students who
wish to apply for extension of time for submission of assessment item(s) after the due date
shall put in writing the request together with validated documentary evidence to support the
application to his/her class tutor. The lead lecturer may consider and grant such extension of
due date for the assessment item(s) based on the tutor's recommendation.
