During this semester, the whole experience of working on our capstone project has been a

challenge, but has a great learning opportunity on us. There are so many aspects and factors that play major

roles in capstone that we had no idea existed. We learned the different parts and sections that go into creating

a research paper. Our capstone research adviser, Ma’am Michelle del Valle, made each part and step easy

to learn. She explained well the whole part of IMRaD as one of the requirements in conducting and making

capstone research project. By her guidance, the research paper made the process go smoother when it came

to actually doing the research and writing each part.

Capstone research project teach us a lot of lesson not just a plain research study, but a study that

creates friendship, unity and enjoyment in our heart. We as a group, we consider every struggle as a

motivation to keep going because we believe that every problem had a solution. When we are assign to do

our research project, it is not easy even when we are only choosing the title which are assigned to us to

conduct and convert the title onto research paper. We learned a lot of things as we start in making our

research, we encountered different problems but it is a part of our journey in capstone. It’s hard to do it

especially in our situation, the learning system of education. We made it through the guide of modules and

online.

We already love writing, editing and reading, but researching is another thing. It is finding the right

topic and putting together to create an impactful paragraph. For us, it a long time to learn on how to do this.

We learned this valuable lesson while doing the work. However, we was almost overwhelmed with the

amount of works that had to be done for each chapter. By doing so, this research taught us different method

on writing the chapter and has helped us to strengthen our writing skills as well as on writing on a specific

topic. When we are writing the chapter separately, we learned on how to work individually especially each

member has specific assigned works and by voluntarily choosing the parts made us individually

independent.
We learned as a group that you can’t get something without making an effort. We need to take time

and help each member of the group to do make the task easy and finish it immediately. By doing

experimentation, it was difficult and many trial and errors occurs but because of our hardworking and unity,

we nailed it. At the time we finish the experimentation, we feel proud to ourselves because everything we

worked so hard has a successful results. We also learned as a group that everything is suffering and no

matter what struggle comes to us don’t despair, just fight and never give up.

Our capstone research journey shows how we really enjoy doing an experiment, it may be

exhausting in the process but when the experiment is done it is really worth it. Only you need to do, as a

member is to have strong determination to your work. Focus, learn and enjoy what the tasks is. The most

important is the work ethics, we are very thankful to Ma’am Michelle for saying that word to us as one of

the group in our section. Helping together is the key of being successful. Capstone research project

strengthen our ability to innovate something that will benefit the world in the future. More capstone

research, more innovation and clarification of things will be answered in the future.

In addition, we discovered the importance of using our strengths to help each other. Each individual

has given opportunity to share one’s self to one another. Not only we changed as individual, but we have

also changed on outlook and aspects in life and on how we see the world. We now feel that we are equipped

live out of our mission, we also realized that we have achieved many of our goals as a senior STEM student

in Sapang Palay National High School.

There’s so little that one can do to study the world around us, but it contributes to the whole book

of knowledge that human have as human race. Great things do not happen overnight. Be patient and expect

the best from your work. Your goals and concerns should be discussed with your supervisor or mentor to

establish their feasibility. This team works will become memories and lesson learned as we reach the college

life.

The students learned that the capstone research project enhanced their ability to innovate, highlighting the potential benefits of their work for the future. They recognized that their research contributes not only to current knowledge but also lays the groundwork for future innovations. This experience empowered them to appreciate their contributions in the context of broader scientific advancement, fostering a mindset oriented towards continuous improvement and discovery .

The capstone project fundamentally altered the students' perspectives by making them more appreciative of collective effort and innovation. It reinforced the notion that significant achievements require time and persistence, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration. The experience not only changed them on an individual level, but also broadened their understanding of the importance of contributing to knowledge. They realized their work was part of a larger body of human knowledge, establishing a more profound connection to their roles in the world .

Students developed several skills through writing each chapter of their capstone project, particularly in strengthening their writing abilities on specific topics. They enhanced their editing skills, learned to articulate their research findings effectively, and gained the ability to work independently on their assigned parts. This comprehensive process also fostered a deeper understanding of structuring and presenting complex information coherently .

The capstone project prepared students for future academic and professional endeavors by teaching them crucial research skills, enhancing their problem-solving abilities, and promoting teamwork. It instilled an appreciation for rigorous scientific inquiry and equipped them with the determination needed for future challenges. The experience of working independently and collaboratively honed their organizational skills and adaptability, laying a robust foundation for tackling complex tasks in future academic and professional settings .

To manage workload and stress, students divided their tasks, allowing each member to focus on specific sections and promote individual accountability. This strategy reduced the overall burden and facilitated timely completion of tasks. They also relied on peer support, with members voluntarily assisting each other to overcome difficulties swiftly. The collective effort in addressing challenges and maintaining consistent communication within the group fostered a balanced approach to stressful situations .

Students encountered a mix of challenging and rewarding emotional experiences during their capstone project. Despite feeling overwhelmed by the workload, their shared struggles and achievements fostered a sense of unity and resilience. The pride they felt from overcoming experimentation challenges and achieving successful results reinforced their determination. These emotions underscored the relationship between persistent effort and successful outcomes, shaping their personal growth and team dynamics .

Trial and error were fundamental to the students' learning process during their experimentation phase. It involved multiple attempts to achieve the desired outcomes, prompting students to apply problem-solving skills and maintain perseverance. This iterative process taught them resilience and the value of determination, contributing to their development as they learned to expect and handle challenges in scientific research .

The capstone project taught students the importance of both collaborative and independent work. Each member had specific assigned tasks, which fostered individual responsibility and independence. At the same time, working as a group highlighted the necessity of cooperation, as team members helped each other to make tasks easier and to finish them promptly. The experience emphasized the value of making an effort and supporting each other, demonstrating that hardship can be overcome through collective work and perseverance .

The iterative nature of the research process redefined the students' perception of failure, teaching them that setbacks are an inherent part of experimentation and learning. They understood that failure is not definitive but rather an opportunity to refine processes and solutions. This perspective allowed them to embrace challenges and view each unsuccessful attempt as a step closer to achieving their research objectives, thus fostering a more resilient and proactive approach to problem-solving .

Ma’am Michelle del Valle played a crucial role as a mentor by simplifying the IMRaD structure for them and guiding them through the research paper process. Her explanations made each part of their research more comprehensible, aiding in smoothly navigating the research and writing phases. Her encouraging guidance allowed the students to focus on their tasks, bolstering their confidence and ensuring the successful completion of their project .
