1. Introduction and General Information
This Work Method Statement is for repair process involves removing loose
material, cleaning the affected area, applying suitable repair material, and
then curing to gain adequate strength. This procedure is for the repair of defect
such as crack and honeycomb in concrete members such as slab, columns and
beams for above project. It shall be done by trained workmanship under the
supervision of site Engineers as per the drawing and manufacturer
recommendation.
2. Responsibilities
Project Manager
- Responsible for the entire operation of all works at the site by taking
care of quality and safety requirements.
- He will be responsible for the overall in-charge for the compliance of
the work with project specifications.
- He will be responsible for the management of the resources and
controlling the wastages.
- He will be the focal point for the interaction with the Contractor/Client.
Construction Manager
- Responsible for the entire operation of concrete repair works complying
with quality and safety requirements.
- To ensure that the team of supervisor and foreman are aware of this
Method Statement and all the resources are available to carry out the
work as planned.
- Ensure the construction procedures, and instructions are strictly
implemented at the workplace.
- Conduct TBT with workers and supervisors on a safety topic.
- To ensure housekeeping at all times during the course of the work.
- Report near misses, injuries, and accident/incident cases. -
Coordination with site SHO manager/office.
- Ensure job-specific training for all employees.

Project Engineer
- Responsible for the supervision of concrete repair works.
- Organizing the engineering deliverables for the project.
- In charge of preparing the materials and subcontractor requirements
for the project.
- Ensure the construction procedures, and instructions are strictly
implemented at the workplace.
- Report near misses, injuries, and accident/incident cases.
- Coordination with site SHO manager/office.
- Ensure job-specific training for all employees.
- No workers must be accepted at the site without a proper gate pass.
Site Supervisor
- Responsible for the supervision of concrete repair works.
- To ensure that all technical matters and changes in drawings are
discussed with the charge hand.
- To ensure that all equipment required for the works is available and in
good condition.
- Ensure toolbox talks before work starts.
- Check all workers are wearing suitable PPE's as per Job Safety
Analysis.
- To ensure housekeeping at all times during the course of the work.
- Report near misses, injuries, and accident cases.
QA/QC Engineer
- Responsible for inspections in coordination with the consultant and
monitoring the execution to confirm, it complies with the approved
procedure and contractor specification.
3. Materials, Tools and Equipments
The major materials, tools and equipment used for rectification concrete work,
but are not limited to the following.
1. SIKA GROUT 215
2. 18L bucket / pail
3. 2 Feet Rod (for stirring purpose) or Electric stiiring tools / machine
4. Hammer, measuring tapes, nails and marker pen / pencil
5. Wire brush
6. Trowel

4. Method and Procedures
4.1. Identification of defects

4.1. Identification of defects
Identification of defects and damages in the concrete structure where repair
works to be carried out following are the few cases - Repair of the concrete
surface, crack, honeycombing, edges of steps, and all types of load-bearing
situations.
4.2. Surface Preparation
Sika Grout 215 can be applied to sound concrete, masonry, rock, or similar
materials. Damaged concrete surface and laitance shall be removed by
chipping with cold chiseling to obtain a rough surface. The area shall be
surrounded by clean edges. The surface shall be free from any traces of
grease or oil. Any corroded steel shall be cleaned with a metal brush or sand
to remove all dust particles.
4.3 Preparation for Grouting Work
Wet the cleaned area before applying the Sika Grout 215. If the depth of
honeycomb less than 20mm, filling small voids and cracking using a trowel of
now-shrinkage epoxy grout Sika Grout 215. The filling process should be in a 15
mm thickness layer if the depth of honeycomb is greater than 5 cm. It is
recommended to wait for a while (30min) before applying the next layer. If the
honeycomb covers a large area, you may need to create a patch hole to
ensure proper bonding and formworks to be use. Once formworks with an
opening have been placed, pour the Sika Grout 215 into the formworks. If
present, remove formworks a f t e r 12 hours of repair based on the type of
material used and ambient conditions.
5. Quality Control
5.1 Storage and Handling
All materials and tools shall be stored in a clean, dry, and organized manner.
All materials will be stacked and barricaded. Unwanted material will be
disposed of in dumping yards.

6. Health and Safety Management and Environment Control
1. All site personnel shall comply with the HSE procedures and
regulations.
2. The site personnel shall be in proper safety working attire at all times
during the construction period.
3. Hana Jaya undertakes to follow all the requirements set by
DOSH/NIOSH and DOE.
4. Safety and health measures shall be provide to safeguard all people
working at sites and particular attention shall be paid to the areas
which are near to the public.
5. All workers shall be equipped with Personal Protective Equipments.
Those personnel without PPE shall not be allowed to enter construction
site/ work area.
6. Environmental enactments and stipulations shall be observed and
there shall be no open burning. .
8. The safety officer inspects several times to inspect safety matters.
